Discover Labarde through three distinct interests: wine, a wet woodland landscape and the history of Saint-Martin Church. Château Giscours is a wine estate in Labarde within the Margaux AOC; the Marais de Labarde offers walking trails, while the church brings together architectural history and classified works of art. You can shape your stay around wine, nature or heritage.

Wine visits with different focuses

Château Giscours offers estate tours, wine tastings and picnics in its park. Château Giscours wine is classified as a Third Growth of Margaux. The three visit formats offer different experiences: you can choose a tour, a tasting or a picnic in the park.

A guided tour of Château Siran includes a collection of more than 300 art and archaeological objects related to wine. Château Siran also offers a 30-minute tasting featuring wines from the Margaux, Haut-Médoc and Bordeaux Supérieur appellations. The visit also includes a tour of a bomb shelter that has housed the wine library since 1912. The guided tour incorporates art and archaeological objects, while the tasting has a clearly defined duration; the shelter adds another cultural and historical dimension to the visit.

Château Larrieu Terrefort invites visitors to discover and taste the estate’s wines on the property. The estate covers eight hectares: 3.5 hectares are in the Margaux AOC and 4.5 hectares in the Haut-Médoc AOC. This division offers a concrete insight into the two designated appellations.

Château Dauzac is a Grand Cru Classé de Margaux from the 1855 classification. Visits by electric scooter are among the formats on offer. Ernest David is also part of the estate’s history: in 1885, while managing Château Dauzac, he developed a process there.

Marais de Labarde and Boucle des palombes

The Marais de Labarde is a floodable forest on peaty ground and forms part of the Route de l’estuaire. The marsh has walking trails, a pond and a fitness trail; a car park makes it easier to access. Alongside this distinctive landscape, there are practical ways to spend time outdoors.

The Boucle des palombes passes through the Marais de Labarde and a riverside forest with diverse flora and fauna. A 2018 route guide describes it as an easy 5.3-kilometre loop taking about 1 hour and 30 minutes. Since these details date from 2018, check the route and estimated duration before setting out. The 2018 route description also mentions two hunting cabins, known as palombières, which walkers can see along the loop.

The marsh and the loop offer two different ways to experience the landscape: explore the marsh via its trails and facilities, or follow the loop through the wetland and riverside forest. The route details also provide a specific guide for planning your time, provided you check them in advance.

Saint-Martin Church: architectural history and works of art

Saint-Martin Church in Labarde was built in the 18th century on the medieval foundations of the chapels of La Naude and completed in 1732. Its history thus combines medieval foundations with an 18th-century church building.

The church houses a large 18th-century painting of Saint Martin, classified on 1 June 1910. It also contains a stone Pietà, classified on 7 May 1971. The two works bring different dates into the church’s history: both the painting’s period of creation and its classification date are recorded, while the Pietà’s specific classification date is known.
