Carbon-Blanc offers several reasons to visit: cultural attractions, historic building phases, green spaces and outdoor activities. At Église Saint-Paulin, for example, you can trace how a church developed over several decades. Nature and events are also on offer, appealing to different interests.

Green spaces and outdoor activities

Parc Candau lies in the south of the commune of Carbon-Blanc. This 3,200 m² green space promotes biodiversity and is home to around fifteen trees, including a stand of ageing hornbeams. Plaine du Faisan is another place for outdoor activities, with a fitness trail and an orienteering course. The commune provides a map for the course. The facilities offer different types of physical activity, and the map is specifically for orienteering. Travellers looking to include nature and outdoor activities in their plans will find distinct options here.

Church and stained glass

The history of Église Saint-Paulin can be traced through several phases of construction. Work began in 1849 when it was a chapel; in 1852 it became a parish church, and in 1864 it gained its transept and sacristies. The stained-glass windows were added later, installed gradually in the choir, nave, gallery and around the baptismal fonts between 1867 and 1890. The works represent three generations of the Thibaud, Villiet and Dagrand stained-glass families. For visitors interested in cultural history, two periods meet here: the development of the church building and its later stained-glass decoration.

The history of the mill and château

The Moulin de Bellevue appears on 18th-century maps and in the 1824 cadastre; it was apparently the only windmill in the town of Carbon-Blanc. Château Brignon, also known as Brugnon, reflects a different historical development: the former wine estate emerged in the 16th century from the division of the Barony of Montferrand. Its oldest, low-rise buildings date from the 17th century, while the main residence, with its small tower, dates from the 18th century. These historical points of interest therefore span from the 16th century to records from the 19th century. The Moulin’s history as a windmill is presented with appropriate caution; at Château Brignon, you can distinguish its origins from its different periods of construction.

Culture and events

Set in Parc Favols, PĂ´le Culturel Favols brings together a media library, a cinema and a multi-purpose hall. The complex also includes Association Socio Culturelle Jacques Brel, which offers a wide range of cultural activities, including a music school.
