Discover Rimbach-Près-Guebwiller through two distinct aspects: local history, including the Église paroissiale de L'Epiphanie, and the Rimbach–Ebeneck and Rimbach–Judenhut hiking trails. Cultural history, nature and regional cuisine offer several possible focuses for your stay.

Local history and the Église de l'Epiphanie

Rimbach-Près-Guebwiller is first mentioned in a document from 1291 under the name Rinpach. In the 18th century, the local economy was based mainly on glassmaking and the use of the forest. The Église paroissiale de L'Epiphanie was rebuilt from 1866 to 1869 according to plans by Auguste Hartmann of Colmar. The bell tower was added in 1897 and extensively restored in 1928. The church has a well-preserved Opus 31 organ by Georges Schwenkedel. The Église de l'Epiphanie is open daily; check current access information before your visit.

The sculptural group “Saint Valentin guérissant un épileptique” dates from the 16th century and has been classified as an object since July 23, 1976. The slopes of the Ebeneck also tell of past activity: an exploratory adit opening and prospecting traces were discovered there, providing evidence of ore mining in the valley as early as the 16th century. Together, these sites offer insights into different periods of local and economic history.

Two hikes, two different profiles

The short Rimbach–Ebeneck hike leads to the high pastures of the Ebeneck and is accessible to most people. It is 5.6 km long, takes about two hours and has an elevation difference of 312 m. From the summit, the Rimbach–Ebeneck circular trail offers beautiful views across the Alsatian plain.

The Rimbach–Judenhut circular trail is a moderately difficult 6.1 km hiking or snowshoeing loop. It takes about two hours to walk, with 415 m of ascent and 415 m of descent. The route offers views of Guebwiller and its vineyards. It also passes Munsteraeckerle, where tables, benches and a small hut are available. Both routes are listed as taking approximately two hours; their main differences are distance, elevation profile and difficulty.

Waterway and regional dining

The Rimbach is a tributary of the Lauch. Its upper reaches are fed by numerous springs that rise on the slopes of the Sudel, Firstacker and Grand Ballon. The Ferme-Auberge de la Glashütte lies on the edge of Rimbach-Près-Guebwiller at the foot of the Grand Ballon and is an ideal starting point for hiking trails.

Traditional cuisine and Alsatian specialties are served there, including Marcaire meals, game dishes, Bouchée à la reine and products from the farm’s own agriculture. As the establishment and its menu may change, check the latest information before visiting. If you are looking for a hotel for a culture- and hiking-focused stay, local history, hiking trails and regional cuisine can help guide your plans.
