Discover Kankaanpää through a range of interests: the Taidekehä and the church for art and architecture, Hämeenkangas for trails and outdoor activities, and a snow-covered cross-country ski trail at the sports centre.
Art in public spaces and distinctive architecture
Kankaanpää Church is a neoclassical cruciform church. Its tower is 24 metres high, and its hanging dome is 16 metres. The comparison in size gives the architecture a tangible scale: the tower rises eight metres above the dome.
The Taidekehä offers another perspective on art: a growing collection of more than 100 works permanently installed in the urban environment. You can explore it on foot via the Taidepolku or take a loop along the art circuit. You can therefore approach your visit either as a walk on the Taidepolku or as a circuit along the loop.
For changing exhibitions, the Kankaanpää Gallery is another place to visit: the Kankaanpää Art Association runs the exhibition venue, where exhibitions change regularly each month. The Kankaanpää Town Museum in Niinisalo focuses on the region’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage. It collects, preserves and researches this heritage, and presents it through exhibitions, information services and various events. The museum occupies a former school building on the Pori–Jyväskylä highway.
