When planning a trip to Hemmet, you can explore several different interests: architectural history at Hemmet Kirke, harbor connections at Hemmet Havn, and Viking crafts at Bork Vikingehavn. If you are looking for accommodation, you can consider whether historic details, hands-on activities, or time outdoors should be the focus. The places and activities offer different points of interest rather than prescribing a single itinerary.

Viking life and crafts

At Bork Vikingehavn, visitors encounter people in Viking clothing in the houses, busy with crafts and household tasks. Reconstructed market plots have been laid out on the town square. Visitors can also write runes and make a bracelet with their own runes. Watching and taking part go hand in hand: you can explore the presentation of crafts and everyday life or try one of the activities on offer yourself. Free parking is available at Bork Vikingehavn. Check the latest information about parking options as you plan your visit.

Harbors and architectural history

Hemmet Gammel Havn, a small fishing village, is located near Hemmet. Hemmet Havn on the fjord is a separate harbor, used mainly by recreational fishers. There are 15 storage sheds there; the oldest dates from 1924. This gives you two different harbor connections: a small fishing village in the Hemmet area and a harbor whose use is primarily associated with recreational fishing.

Hemmet Kirke also offers specific historical details. It has a Romanesque chancel and nave, as well as a Gothic sacristy and tower. Its furnishings include a Romanesque baptismal font and an altarpiece dating from around 1500. The Renaissance pulpit is carved with acanthus leaves. Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance features can therefore be seen in different parts of the church and its furnishings. Another historic landmark is Fahl Inn at Oblingvej 34, Sdr. Bork, 6893 Hemmet, built in 1856.

Routes and outdoor activities

Panoramarute 407, “Mellem Hav Og Fjord,” runs through Hemmet. From there, it follows the cycle path south toward Nørre Bork. This direction can help you identify the route section; check current route conditions before setting off.

Fritids & Naturparken ved Sdr. Bork Forsamlingshus includes activity and exercise trails. The pétanque court is also open to everyone. The trails and pétanque offer different ways to spend time being active here.

Hemmet is considered a good place for surfing. At Bork Havn Strand, visitors can book a lesson at a surf school. The water there is shallow and has no strong currents. When planning, you can distinguish between lessons at the beach and the trails or pétanque court.
