The railway station, routes, and town park are important landmarks for getting around Hedehusene: the black Kløversti trail and a cycling loop in Hedeland start at the station; in the town park, cultural history is presented along the paths. This lets you choose different focuses for your stay—nature trails in Hedeland or local history in the town park.

Routes and Getting Around Hedehusene

The railway station also has a historical role: Hedehusene got a station in 1847 in connection with Denmark’s first railway. Today, Hedehusene Library is centrally located opposite the station. The black Kløversti trail starts there. Its starting point may change if routes are revised in the future. The cycling loop in Hedeland also starts and ends at the station; check the route details before setting out.

Det Grønne Loop runs through Hovedgaden and the town park, beneath the railway to Nærheden in southern Hedehusene, and back over the bridge to Hovedgaden and the railway station. Its route connects several named areas of the town. If you would like to focus more on local history, the town park offers a dedicated cultural experience.

Nature Trails and Excursions in Hedeland

In Hedeland Nature Park, gravel paths invite you to hike and cycle. The Nature Trail is a four-kilometre route through wild nature and the park’s largest woodland area. It starts at the car park on Brandhøjgårdsvej, near Brandhøjporten and two kilometres from Hedehusene railway station. The two kilometres refer to the distance from the station to the starting point; the four kilometres are the length of the route. As access information may change if the park regulations change, check access before your visit.

Another landscape feature is the Winter Terraces, with more than 3,000 grapevines. Together with the gravel paths, Hedeland offers various ways to explore the area on foot or by bicycle, without assuming that both activities use the same route.

Hedelands Veteranbane is located at the entrance to Brandhøjgårdsvej 2 in Hedehusene. The narrow-gauge heritage railway is five kilometres long and has eight stops. Its route passes Naturlegeplads ved Fem Ege. Alongside the paths through the landscape, this provides a clearly described railway route and a named playground as separate points of interest.

Cultural History in the Town

In Hedehusene Kulturpark, the cultural trail tells the story of Hedehusene. There is also the interactive Edderkoppen playground. Hedehuset cultural centre is in the town park; the town’s cultural history is presented along the park paths. These stops give your stay a clear connection to the place: the story is told not only in a single building, but also through the traces preserved in the townscape.

These traces of Hedehusene’s cultural history include residential buildings, industrial and craft buildings, village communities, street layouts, and a gravel pit. Another architectural feature is Ansgarkirken: built in the old Romanesque style, it has a flat beamed ceiling and wheel-shaped chandeliers. Everyone is welcome at services, including children; service arrangements may change. Check the current arrangements before visiting.
