Wet meadows, orchids and a settlement history dating back to the 18th century give Vyškovec a distinct character. When planning your trip, consider which aspect of the area interests you most: the landscape, the history of the scattered Kopaničář settlement, or the trails and activities. Nature and culture offer different ways to shape your stay.

Wet meadows, pastures and orchids

The Chmelinec Natural Monument lies on the northeastern edge of Vyškovec. It covers 2.8 hectares of wet meadows in the valley of the Drietomica stream. The valley hollow is home to numerous early marsh orchids (Dactylorhiza majalis); grazed vegetation of the Carpathian pastures, belonging to the Anthoxantho-Agrostietum association, grows along the edges. Wetlands and grazed areas thus lie side by side in the same natural setting.

South of Vyškovec lies the Ve Vlčí Nature Reserve, covering 21.68 hectares. It features dry, sun-exposed pastures, damper hollows and shaded areas; numerous orchid species also grow there. Pod Hribovňou preserves remnants of White Carpathian pastures with rare plants, including one of the last populations of yellow gentian. Small fields, hedgerows and orchards also shape the landscape of Moravské Kopanice. There is also a mineral water spring within the cadastral area of Vyškovec.

Settlement history and cultural sites

Vyškovec emerged around 1730 as a Kopaničář settlement with scattered houses and holiday homes. Among its buildings, the mountain chapel of Panny Marie Královny holds a special place: it is the only sanctuary in the White Carpathians built on a ridge. A mass is held in its honour on the Sunday afternoon closest to 22 August. If you would like to plan your trip around this occasion, check the date in advance.

The musical bell tower in Vyškovec starts playing automatically when a visitor arrives. Behind glass doors, you can also see traditional Kopaničář embroidery in Vyškovec. The monument to the American airmen is a pilgrimage site and a popular destination for tourists. At several locations in the municipality, religious remembrance, handicrafts and local culture come together.

For those interested in folk architecture, the Statek Ve Vlčí č.p. 40 farmstead is a specific example: the complex consists of a stable, a cellar and a dwelling house, and was built in the 1880s. It was declared a cultural monument on 3 May 1958. The date when the complex was built and the later date of its designation as a monument refer to two different periods in its history.

Hiking, cycling and horse riding

When choosing a route, it helps to distinguish between the Naučná stezka Okolo Hrozenka educational trail as a whole and its southern section. The trail is 18 kilometres long, has twelve stops and is suitable for hiking and mountain biking. The southern section is 13 kilometres long and has seven stops. It runs from Starý Hrozenkov through Vyškovec and Vápenice and back to Starý Hrozenkov. The two lengths therefore refer to different sections of the route.

Another option for cyclists is the Krajem Žítkovských bohyní loop, which passes through Vyškovec. It follows signed cycling route 46, the NS Moravské Kopanice and the long-distance Stezka Českem trail. Those who prefer horse riding can take lessons and courses at JK ACD Vyškovec, as well as rides in the surrounding area. Basic training includes caring for the horses and riding at a walk, trot and canter. As visitor offerings can change, check which courses or rides are currently available before making plans.
