Nové Syrovice offers several perspectives on one place: its highlights include a castle and park complex, an unusual three-part forest church ensemble, and trails leading to natural areas. There is also a marked cycle route through the built-up area and a bathing lake to the south. When planning your visit, consider whether you would like to focus mainly on architectural history, an outing in nature, or both.

Castle and Town Centre

The castle and park complex is in the centre of Nové Syrovice; both the castle and the park are protected cultural monuments. The building’s history begins with a fortress originally built in the Renaissance style. The castle was later remodelled in the Baroque and Neoclassical styles. This change in architectural styles traces the building’s development without reducing its distinct phases to a single account of its history.

Architecture enthusiasts will find a tangible link to local history here: the Renaissance fortress is the starting point, while the Baroque and Neoclassical alterations mark later stages of development. The castle and park complex is located in the centre of the town. This makes it easy to place Nové Syrovice’s historic focal point before turning to other cultural or nature-related interests during your stay.

Church and Forest Church Ensemble

The Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius was built between 1906 and 1908 in the Neo-Romanesque style. Its distinctive architectural features include a prismatic tower. Its construction period and style set the church apart from the older history of the castle: this is a building from the early 20th century with a clearly defined architectural language.

The divided forest church offers a different way to explore religious architecture. The Lusthaus is one of its three independent parts. In this three-part ensemble, Sibyla represents the sacristy, while Špice represents the church tower. These designations make the individual parts easier to understand: rather than viewing just one church building, you can distinguish the functions and architectural elements represented in the ensemble.

Graselova Trail and Natural Areas

The Graselova Trail in Nové Syrovice starts at the Novosyrovický rybník pond and leads to the Habrová seč protected area. Its yellow marker with a white “G” serves as a guide. The route is suitable for pedestrians, cyclists and pushchairs. Check conditions before setting out if they may have changed.

Habrová seč is distinguished by its species-rich herb layer, which includes the spring snowflake and Turk’s cap lily. The area also includes beech forests of the Asperulo-Fagetum association and oak-hornbeam forests of the Galio-Carpinetum association. These botanical names denote different forest communities; together with the plants mentioned, they give nature enthusiasts specific features to look out for in the area.

Another natural point of interest is U Lusthausu, where a fragment of mixed ash-alder floodplain forest is home to a population of the endangered spring snowflake. This natural feature can be considered alongside the information about Habrová seč, without equating the two places or their characteristics.

Cycling, Swimming and Choosing Where to Stay

A marked cycle route runs through the built-up area of Nové Syrovice. South of the town lies Koupaliště u Boroví, a body of water used for swimming. Alongside the buildings and natural areas, cycling and swimming offer different activities to choose from. If you plan to stop for a swim, check the conditions before your visit.

The sights and activities mentioned offer different starting points for planning your visit; they do not form a set itinerary. Choose a hotel to suit your own priorities and check current availability through the booking process.
