When planning a stay in Pavlov U Rynárce, you can choose between two distinct areas of interest: historical landmarks and named routes. Pavlov was founded in the 13th century as a fortified settlement to protect the town of Pelhřimov; the first written mention dates from 1377. Its founding and its first written record are different historical reference points: 1377 is not the year it was founded, but the year of its first written mention.
Local History and Protected Monuments
A masonry bell tower stands in the center of Pavlov. At house number 37 is the stone Wayside Shrine (Boží muka), a protected monument. The Jewish cemetery of Pavlov, in the direction of Nemojov, is also protected. It preserves 27 gravestones dating from 1804 to 1894, a span of 90 years. The dates place the gravestones in the 19th century and add a later period to Pavlov’s much older founding history. Štemflík Mill is also part of the history of the Pavlov estate: it was built toward the end of the 18th century. The mill is not open to the public.
Circular Walk and Longer Routes
The 15 km circular route “Around the Fortification Site” (“Okolo tvrziště”) passes through Pavlov and by the Jewish cemetery near Pavlov. It continues to the Nemojov Fortification Site outside Pavlov. There, ditches and ramparts from a former Gothic fortress remain; they are 8 m wide and up to 14 m deep. The site is also known as Blažkův zámek. The circular route therefore links a section through Pavlov with a destination outside the village. Check local trail conditions before planning your walk.
The 32 km route “Around the Springs” (“Okolo studánek”) also passes through Pavlov. The 34.5 km cycling route “Around the Quarry to the European Watershed” (“Okolo lomu k evropskému rozvodí”) also runs through the village; its terrain is suitable for mountain bikes. Of the three routes, the 15 km circular walk is the shortest, while the 34.5 km cycling route is the longest. In addition to its length, the cycling route’s stated suitability for mountain bikes provides further guidance.
