Cetoraz offers historic religious buildings and nature-related attractions centred on ponds and woodland. Construction dates and architectural styles give the cultural side a concrete character, while swimming and hiking offer different outdoor activities. These highlights can appeal to different interests when planning your trip.

St. Wenceslas and Religious History

The Church of St. Wenceslas stands on a slight rise at the eastern end of Cetoraz, on the road near the village square. Originally Gothic, it was built in 1350. The church is home to the older Václav bell, cast in 1512. The church, rectory and grounds are protected by law as historic monuments. The two dates refer to different parts of the religious history: 1350 to the construction of the church and 1512 to the bell. The timeline therefore spans from a 14th-century building to a bell from the early 16th century.

The Deym family tomb in the local cemetery in Cetoraz was built in 1821 after the death of Christina Deym. It is a rectangular, masonry-built Classical chapel. A deep niche is framed by half-columns; a stone tombstone bearing the Brady–Deym coat of arms is set into it. The architectural details lead from the rectangular structure to the framed niche and then to the tombstone. Compared with St. Wenceslas, the tomb was built considerably later and is Classical rather than originally Gothic. The two buildings thus differ both in period and in form.

There is also a chapel dedicated to St. John of Nepomuk in Jánsku in Cetoraz. It adds another named place of interest to the historic religious buildings and local cultural attractions.

Ponds, Swimming and Hiking

The Vodický stream forms a cascade of ponds used for recreation. Their total water surface area is 22 hectares; this figure refers to the cascade as a whole, not to an individual pond. The figure therefore describes the surface area of the entire pond system.

Ponds near Cetoraz offer opportunities for swimming. If you plan to swim, check the local conditions and suitability before doing so. For trip planning, water surface area and swimming opportunities are separate considerations: the 22 hectares refers to the entire cascade, while swimming is possible at nearby ponds.

The wooded surroundings of Cetoraz offer opportunities for hiking. At the edge of the village stands the Cetorazský dub, a tree protected as a natural monument. When choosing a nature-related activity, you can distinguish between swimming at nearby ponds and hiking in the wooded surroundings; the tree adds a protected natural site to these options.

Different considerations come to the fore depending on what you are looking for: St. Wenceslas and the Deym family tomb are about architectural history, while the ponds and woodland offer outdoor activities. The Cetorazský dub adds a named natural monument to the mix. You can consider whether historic buildings, water or hiking should play a bigger part in your stay.
