Visitors to Jamné can choose a focus based on specific details: the Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross has a central octagonal floor plan; other highlights include the history of Jamné Castle, the Rytířsko hunting lodge and routes for cycling and hiking. Different factors matter when planning: architectural styles and dates for cultural monuments, route length and difficulty for cycling, and current trail markings for hiking.

The Church and Its Baroque Details

The Church of the Finding of the Holy Cross was built between 1702 and 1705 on the site of an earlier chapel. Its central octagonal floor plan describes a layout organised around a central point, providing a specific architectural feature to explore. Alongside its classification as a Baroque building, visitors can also focus on this particular architectural form.

The church also has a rotatable altar cross that once stood in the fields. Another Baroque work in the village is the statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, dating from 1740. Together with the church’s construction dates, these details provide a clearly defined time frame for sacred art in Jamné.

Castle Histories with Different Dates

Jamné Castle dates back to an original fortress built in 1591 and has been protected as a cultural monument since 3 May 1958. The historical connection of the Rytířsko hunting lodge comes later: it was probably established by the Kounic family sometime after 1736. These two dates represent different historical reference points rather than a shared building history.

The architectural styles described also differ. The Rytířsko hunting lodge is a rectangular, single-storey building with a mansard roof, dormer windows and a small turret. These features give the architecture a distinctive form: a simple outline is complemented by a segmented roof and a small structure above it. Together with its probable establishment after 1736, this offers a different perspective on the hunting lodge from the one on the fortress that Jamné Castle originated from.

Cycling and Hiking

The 68-kilometre cycling loop route 5215 passes through the Jamné area. It begins and ends in Luka nad Jihlavou and is rated as moderately difficult. Its length, difficulty and circular route give cyclists specific factors to consider when planning; check current route conditions before setting off.

A blue-marked hiking trail passes through the cadastral area of Jamné. Check the current trail markings before setting off. The cycling route and hiking trail offer two different ways to include outdoor activity in your travel plans.

Landscape and Dining

Forests, watercourses, ponds and valley meadows are among the significant landscape features in the Jamné area. Alongside the churches and castles, they offer another way to explore the region: its buildings tell the story of its architectural history, while these landscape features reveal other aspects of the surroundings.

Rytířsko Restaurant serves Czech cuisine and welcomes hotel guests as well as visitors from the surrounding area. Opening hours may change, so check them before your visit. For travel by car, the D1 provides another useful reference point: the motorway passes through the cadastral area of Jamné, and Junction 119 is about 2.5 kilometres west of the village centre. Check the conditions at the junction before setting off.
