Modlíkov offers several distinct starting points for planning a trip: a protected small-leaved lime, a war memorial in the village square and Cycle Route 4122, which runs through the village. A walking route from 2023 adds waypoints and views to these themes. When choosing your destination, you can first decide whether you would like to focus on nature, local remembrance, a cycling connection or a walk with scenic views. These can be considered individually rather than treated as one combined itinerary.

Small-leaved lime and local remembrance

The small-leaved lime Lípa v Modlíkově (Tilia cordata Mill.) is protected in Modlíkov and is one of the area’s locally significant sights. The Czech name identifies the specific tree, while the botanical name identifies the species. This makes it a clearly identified local landmark for anyone with a general interest in nature. It is particularly useful when deciding whether to give a natural monument priority alongside cultural or active travel interests. The lime tree is a subject in its own right: Cycle Route 4122 offers a different perspective on Modlíkov, presenting the village as part of a connection between several places.

The war memorial also has a precise location: it stands in the village square near the municipal office. Beneath the years 1914–1918, the inscription names František Antoš, Josef Antoš, Adolf Halík, Josef Halík, Karel Pospíšil, Stanislav Pospíšil, Karel Kliment, Jan Vacek and Vojtěch Vlček. The specific list of names gives the memorial a local connection and makes the inscription, alongside the dates, its central detail. The dates and list of names offer a concrete starting point for exploring local remembrance, while the lime tree is defined primarily by its species and protected status.

Cycle route and walk

For cyclists, Cycle Route 4122 is a specific reason to include Modlíkov in your plans. It runs through the village and connects, among other places, Přibyslav and Havlíčkova Borová. This means you can explore Modlíkov not only through its individual sights, but also as part of a route linking it with these two destinations. Check current route conditions before setting out. This connection gives you a concrete point of comparison if you would rather prioritise a cycling route than individual sights in the village.

A walk in 2023 began at the “Modlíkovský potok” signpost and continued along the road to the memorial lime tree in Modlíkov. Near the former one-room school, the group turned left onto a small road; from there, views included Rosička, Strážky and Lipnice. This route offers a different way to find your bearings than the cycle route: it can be followed using the signpost, the location of the former school and the views mentioned. The route was recorded during a walk in 2023; for current use, please check the latest signage and access conditions.
