Glassmaking and craftsmanship
At Huť Anna, visitors can watch glass being made by hand. The exhibition shop offers glass products for purchase; exclusive glass pieces are also made there in small series. This brings the glassmaking process, which visitors can observe, together with finished products they can buy. Tours at Huť Jakub Tasice explain the history of the site and the techniques of glassmaking and glass grinding. The visits have different focuses: Huť Anna is about production and sales, while the tours at Huť Jakub Tasice focus on history and techniques. If you would rather watch the work in progress and choose glass products, Huť Anna is the place to go; if you are interested in historical and technical explanations, choose a tour in Tasice.
Two routes, different focuses
The “Historie českého sklářství” route is a 9.2-kilometre circular trail for children. In Bělá, it includes a small furnace where glass products are occasionally made; near Tasice, it leads to a historic glass-melting furnace. Thus, this themed route features occasional glass production and a historic furnace as distinct points of interest. The 19.2-kilometre “Putování po vodních plochách” route has a different focus: it is intended for adults and leads to Tasický rybník, Nový rybník and Katlov. In direct comparison, this route is ten kilometres longer. The target groups and themes also differ: one is a children's circular trail about the history of glass, while the other is a longer adult route to three named bodies of water. These differences can help you weigh up the tours by length, target group and interest.
Monument and castle
The monument to the fallen soldiers of Bělá was ceremonially unveiled on 5 June 1921. This exact date anchors the memorial in a specific historical moment and gives it a distinct focus alongside glassmaking and the landscape. Another nearby destination is Ledeč Castle, where tours of the castle rooms and museum are available, as well as a climb to the castle tower. The options range from guided visits to the rooms and museum to a climb up the tower. The monument and castle add the history of remembrance and the castle to the area's crafts-related attractions.
Getting your bearings and finding accommodation
The Tasice bus stop is located in front of the entrance to the glassworks car park and provides a clear landmark. If you are planning to travel by bus, check the timetable for your travel date. When looking for a holiday apartment in Bělá, it helps to decide on your travel interests in advance: would you mainly like to experience glassmaking and craftsmanship, choose one of the themed routes, or include a visit to the castle? If several options appeal to you, you can first choose a route based on its length and theme, then decide which cultural visits to add to your stay.
