Blízkov combines a hiking trail to Dědkovská hora with local history that ranges from a medieval mention to the former Mirhart ski jump. This gives you two distinct themes to consider when planning: an outing in the countryside and several historical topics. The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk and the summit destination each offer their own points of interest.

Hiking to Dědkovská hora

Dědkovská hora is a 694-metre-high peak in the Arnolecké hory and can be reached from Blízkov via a yellow hiking trail. The mountain is suitable for a traditional hiking outing at any time. The treeless eastern slope of the summit offers a view of the Meziříčská kotlina. There is also an eight-metre-high cross dating from 1984 on Dědkovská hora. Christian harvest pilgrimages are held there as well. The trail, the view across the landscape and the cross provide different points of reference for the outing: the route from Blízkov, the view towards the named basin, and a religious symbol on the mountain.

Local history and Mirhart

Blízkov was first mentioned in writing in 1298. The village is thought to have originated during the great medieval colonisation of the 13th century; this remains a possible explanation and should not be equated with the written mention. The Chapel of St John of Nepomuk is a Baroque chapel dating from 1762. It adds a clearly dated building to the village’s older history.

The former Mirhart ski jump is another part of the local history. It was built in 1946–1947 as a five-storey wooden structure, 22.5 metres high. An information board behind Blízkov commemorates the former jump. Religious architecture and sporting history thus offer different perspectives on local history: the chapel is identified by its dedication, style and year of construction, while the structure and commemorative board point to the former facility at Mirhart.

Cycling routes and getting there

Several cycling routes pass through the districts of Blízkov and Dědkov. For hiking, Dědkovská hora is the focus as a single named destination; for cycling, several routes run through the two districts. This distinction can help you choose activities according to your interests.

Exit 134 of the D1 motorway is no more than three kilometres from Blízkov. Blízkov is also served regularly by public transport in the Veřejná doprava Vysočiny system. If you plan to travel by public transport, check the timetable for your travel date.

Choose what to focus on during your stay

When looking for a holiday apartment in Blízkov, your planned activities can help guide your choice: the yellow hiking trail leads from the village to the mountain, cycling routes pass through both districts, and the chapel and information board point to different historical topics. If you want to combine hiking with local history, Blízkov offers several specific points of interest. For getting there, the proximity of the D1 motorway exit and regular public transport service are separate options to consider.
