Nemotice combines cultural history with a distinctive landscape setting and several named routes. These include St. Wenceslas Church, the former fortress, the transition between the Bučovice Hills and Ždánický les, and hiking and cycling routes through the village. If you are looking for a holiday apartment, these different themes can help you choose what to focus on during your stay in Nemotice.

Baroque Church and Mass

St. Wenceslas Church in Nemotice is a cultural monument and a single-nave Baroque building with a prismatic tower. “Single-nave” describes a church interior with one main nave; “prismatic” describes the shape of the tower. The tower dates from 1793, and the church was consecrated on the first Sunday of Advent in 1794. The years refer to different milestones: 1793 to the tower and 1794 to the church’s consecration.

Mass is held regularly on Sundays at 11 a.m. If you are planning to attend a service, check the time before your trip, as the schedule may change.

The Former Fortress

Nemotice’s former fortress stood on a hill west of the village centre, which the Kyjovka flowed around. It was first mentioned in 1371 and fell into disrepair sometime after 1531. The first year marks its mention, and the second its later decline—two distinct periods in its history. The fortress is notable for its former riverside location and the course of its history; the church offers a different historical reference point, with its architectural style and year of consecration.

Landscape on the Edge of Ždánický les

Nemotice lies on the boundary between the Bučovice Hills and Ždánický les. The municipality’s territory is part of the Ždánický les Nature Park. These statements describe different aspects: the first places Nemotice between two landscapes, while the second refers to the municipality’s inclusion in the nature park. Together, they give the village a landscape setting that extends beyond its individual historic buildings.

Hiking and Cycling Routes

The red-marked Brankovice–Nemotice–Švábenice hiking trail passes through Nemotice. Cycling route No. 473, Otrokovice–Koryčany–Rajhradice, also passes through the village. The two routes can be distinguished by different features: the hiking trail is identified by its red markings, while the cycling route is identified by its number and sequence of place names. Check local conditions on the hiking trail before setting out; the condition of the cycling route’s surface may change.

Railway Connection and a Historic Date

In Nemotice, the Nemotice–Koryčany railway line branches off from the Brno–Trenčanská Teplá line. On 8 June 2024, a train hauled by a steam locomotive was offered on the former Nemotice–Koryčany line. If you would like to travel by train, check the current service.

Consider Nemotice as a Place to Stay

When choosing where to stay, you can consider which focus suits your trip. The church and fortress offer different points of interest for architecture and local history, while those looking for outdoor activities can choose between a red-marked hiking trail and a numbered cycling route. The location between the hills and Ždánický les adds a landscape perspective to these themes. This lets you choose the village based on specific interests without requiring a fixed itinerary.
