St. Michael’s Church in Vísky is more than a single building: the protected area also includes the surrounding wall with its gate and the grounds of the former cemetery. Two educational trails also end here; a hiking trail passes by the church, and a regional cycle route runs past it as well. The architecture, mineral exhibition and brewery visit add a range of interests to the trails. Vísky thus offers travellers who want to combine culture with specific leisure activities several distinct points of interest.
St. Michael’s Church: building history and bell
St. Michael’s is a single-nave church of Romanesque origin, later remodelled in the Gothic style and subsequently altered in the Baroque style. This sequence gives the church a building history that cannot be reduced to a single period. A Gothic bell in the church is estimated to date from around 1400; it may be the oldest bell made in Moravia. This brings two perspectives together: the development of the building through several phases of remodelling, and a single object whose date of origin is only approximate.
Educational trails and routes
The K obrázku educational trail connects Pamětice with Vísky and ends at the church. The municipality still lists it among Vísky’s educational trails; a route description from 2021 describes it as easy, about 1.5 kilometres long, with twelve stops and information panels. The Písečná educational trail also ends at the church. A route description from 2021 describes it as an easy 2.5-kilometre route with 15 stops and information panels. Both trails are described as easy; K obrázku is about one kilometre shorter, while Písečná has three more stops. This gives you two concrete points of comparison—length and number of stops—with the same endpoint.
A tourist description, last updated in 2009, notes the sweeping panorama over the Boskovická brázda from the terrace in front of the church. A green hiking trail starts in Boskovice, passes St. Michael’s Church and continues to the former Andělka spa. Check its current markings on site. The routes serve different purposes: the educational trails end at the church, while the green hiking trail passes by. A regional cycle route also runs past the church; check its current signage before setting out.
Mineral exhibition and brewery tour
The mineral exhibition offers a different focus: it displays the largest heliodor crystal in the Czech Republic. Visits are possible by prior arrangement and appointment. If the exhibition is part of your stay, arrange a time in advance and plan it as a scheduled activity.
The Ohrada brewery offers brewery tours led by brewer Martin Kamba, with an optional tasting. Advance reservation is required. You can plan the brewery visit as a tour with or without a tasting; you must reserve a time in advance.
Bowling and billiards
The renovated Orlovna also offers leisure activities for locals and visitors: two bowling lanes and billiards. It operates by arrangement, so you should arrange your visit in advance.
