Droužetice lies two kilometres north of Strakonice. The forest north of the village offers good opportunities for recreation; the area also contains the Dražský pond and a short stretch of the Řepický potok. Archaeological finds, the village’s medieval history and a cycling route through Droužetice provide further specific points of interest for planning your trip.
Forest and water
The forest north of Droužetice is a designated recreational area. Dražský pond lies within the cadastral area of Droužetice. The Řepický potok follows a different course: it runs through only a short section of the area’s northern part. The bodies of water can therefore be distinguished geographically: the pond is located within the cadastral area, while the stream runs briefly through the north. Together with the forest, these features offer different perspectives on the landscape, without describing a single route.
Archaeological finds and local history
Three burial mounds lie west of Droužetice. Sherds of heavy vessels from the Hallstatt period were found there; this was the first reported archaeological find in the surrounding area. The discovery reaches far back into the past, while the village history records a noble seat in 1398: from that year, Droužetice was a noble seat held by the zemans of Miloňovice. In 1467, the manor fortress and Droužetice were burned down.
Černíkov also has its own settlement pattern. Several farmsteads, two small ponds and a chapel together form a classic South Bohemian rural settlement. This sets the description of Černíkov apart from the archaeological sites west of Droužetice and the information about the village’s medieval history.
The Madonna of Droužetice
The Madonna of Droužetice links local history with art history and several places. The limewood carving, made around 1410, belongs to the Late Beautiful Style and comes from the Dominican monastery in Pilsen. From the 1940s onwards, it was kept in the chapel in Droužetice; in 1981, it was donated to the museum. Today, it is part of the collections of the Muzeum středního Pootaví in Strakonice. Its story thus runs from its origins in Pilsen, through its former home in Droužetice, to its present location in the collection in Strakonice.

It gives a distance of 35 kilometres, an elevation gain of 339 metres, an approximate duration of 2 hours and 20 minutes, and a moderate difficulty level.
The approximate duration provides a specific guide for planning your time; the moderate difficulty level is also part of the route profile. Check trail conditions and signage before setting out. This allows you to plan the cycle ride according to its stated distance and duration, while the details about passing the chapel and the section towards Podolí describe the route through Droužetice more precisely.
