Těšovice is home to a small wayside chapel, two mills with distinct histories, and marked cycling and hiking routes. The chapel tells the story of religious practice along a travel route, while the mills reflect changes in the milling trade. Together, they give the village a cultural and historical character and offer different perspectives to help plan a stay.

A chapel along a former travel route

The Výklenková kaple Panny Marie Pasovské was built on a raised hollow way at a former crossroads of the routes from Bavorov to Prachatice and from Netolice to Husinec. It served travellers as a place to rest and pray for a safe journey. This former function gives the chapel a concrete connection to travel: it was not only a sacred building, but also a place to pause on a journey.

The small religious building has preserved decorative paintings. The wall paintings attest to the character and quality of folk mural painting from the second half of the 18th century. From a cultural and historical perspective, both the chapel’s former role along the route and its artistic decoration are of interest. A cross depicting Jesus stands in front of the chapel. The building, paintings, and cross bring together different aspects of religious history at this site.

Two mill histories

Hanušův mlýn offers a different perspective on the history of work. The mill was built in the 17th century and features Renaissance elements in its gable. In the first half of the 19th century, it was converted into a paper mill before being used again as a mill. This sequence shows how its function changed: the building’s history includes not only its age but also its changing uses. Hanušův mlýn stands by a bridge over the Blanice, so its location by the river also helps place the mill in context.

The complex of Mauricův, Nachlingerův mlýn probably dates from the first half of the 19th century and documents the development of the milling trade in Bohemia. The listed mill was originally a hammer mill; its grinding equipment is fully preserved. It is not open to visitors. By comparison, the history of Hanušův mlýn is defined above all by its sequence of uses, while the Mauricův, Nachlingerův mlýn complex is distinguished by its probable date, its former function as a hammer mill, and its preserved grinding equipment. The two mill histories can thus be understood through different features.

Cycling and hiking

Long-distance cycle route 5A reaches Těšovice from the direction of Husinec after crossing a bridge. From Těšovice, it continues along the blue-marked route to Běleč. This gives cyclists both a direction of arrival and a destination for continuing their ride. Check route conditions locally before planning your stage.

A blue-marked hiking trail also runs through Těšovice. Alongside the cycling route, this provides a described option for walking through the village. The distinction is useful when planning: the long-distance cycling route specifies the approach and continuation to Běleč, while the hiking trail is described as running through Těšovice. Check the local signs before setting out; markings can change.
