When planning a stay in Přední Výtoň, you can choose from several highlights: a local beach with shallow access to the water, a boat rental service, a cycling route that starts and ends in the village, and notable sites linked to the history of churches and the guard castle. When choosing accommodation, you might therefore first consider what you want your stay to focus on: time by the water, cycling or cultural history.

Nature and water

The Svatý Tomáš natural monument extends across the cadastral areas of Pasečná and Přední Výtoň. It protects remnants of a montane mixed forest and a scree forest. Forest conservation is therefore a distinct focus alongside the churches and the guard castle, whose history raises different questions about architectural style, foundation and function.

The local beach in Přední Výtoň offers shallow access to the water. A boat rental service is also available in Přední Výtoň. These are different options to consider when planning your stay: at the beach, shallow access to the water is the defining feature; the rental service offers a way to add a boating activity to your stay.

Cycling and cultural history

The Svatotomášským pohořím cycling route starts and ends in Přední Výtoň. It runs through Spáleniště, Pasečná, Koranda, Svatý Tomáš, Vítkův Kámen, Mírová cesta and Frýdava. Having the same start and finish point sets this route apart from a ride with two different endpoints and makes returning to the starting point part of the plan. The route also passes Svatý Tomáš and Vítkův Kámen, names that feature in the area’s cultural history too.

The two churches can be distinguished by their founding dates and architectural styles. The Church of Saints Philip and James is a Neo-Gothic parish church; it was founded in 1384 and restored in the 1990s. The Gothic Church of Božího těla in the settlement of Svatý Tomáš was founded in 1348 by Petr I. z Rožmberka. The year 1348 is 36 years before 1384; by contrast, the restoration of the parish church took place in the 1990s. The churches thus represent different architectural styles and periods.

Vítkův Kámen and local tradition

Vítkův Kámen is a guard castle on Svatotomášský vrch, which rises to 1,053 metres. The guard castle was probably founded around 1250 by Vítek z Načeradce. The 25-metre-high tower has an observation terrace with views in all directions. The castle thus combines its historical function with the panoramic views from the tower. The two height figures refer to different things: 1,053 metres is the height of the mountain, while 25 metres is the height of the tower.

The Christmas and cradle song Heidschi Bumbeitschi (Hajčí bumbajčí) is also part of the area’s cultural history. Its melody and two verses were written in the former municipality of Heuraffel, now Přední Výtoň. The historical place name Heuraffel connects the song to local history in a way that differs from the churches’ architectural and founding dates.
