Those choosing Lipno by the Lipno Reservoir will find a place whose origins are closely linked to the construction of the dam: the original settlement was flooded and replaced by a new holiday resort. Lipno nad Vltavou lies on the left bank of the reservoir, near its dam; the Šumava landscape surrounds the town.

Water at the Lipno Reservoir

The shore of the Lipno Reservoir at Lipno nad Vltavou offers opportunities for swimming, sailing, windsurfing and sport fishing. There is a range of water-based activities to choose from, from swimming to sailing or board sports and fishing. Viewed from the beach towards the dam, the passenger boat harbour is beyond a projection of the shore. Marina Lipno is in Lipno nad Vltavou, at the middle pier, B.

Cycling trails with different profiles

The Lipno Bikepark has a 1.8-kilometre blue trail and a shorter, 1.2-kilometre red trail. The red trail is more difficult and has an elevation difference of 180 metres. The bike park is suitable for children aged eight and up, as well as beginners and advanced riders. Trail measurements may change; check the latest information before your ride.

The Lipno Singletrack offers a different kind of route: it is five kilometres long, runs through the forest and was specially designed for families and children. The route is mostly downhill, with terrain rollers and banked turns; the chairlift takes you back uphill. The bike park focuses on trail colours and difficulty ratings, while the singletrack is defined by its forest route and the described downhill ride with a chairlift return.

The 21-kilometre Jezerní inline skating trail also runs along the shore. Its length and location by Lake Lipno set it apart from the two bike offerings: here, the defining feature is the route along the lakeshore, while the bike park offers two trails with different difficulty ratings.

Attractions and a landmark

Fox Park is a 120-metre-long practice area at the lower station of the Lipno Express cable car. It has three conveyor belts and themed slalom courses. Království lesa (Forest Kingdom) features zip lines, rope structures, tree cities, climbing frames, swings, castles and ramparts, carousels, sandpits and slides. Its certified play features and structures combine entertainment with an introduction to the diverse nature of the Šumava.

Aquaworld Lipno offers a way to relax in any weather. Facilities include a swimming pool, a waterslide for children and a counter-current pool. Its focus differs from the activities along the lakeshore or the cycling trails: here, the pools and waterslide take centre stage.

A distinctive landmark in the town is the Janusovská Lampa. The sculpture by Milan Doubrava is 365 centimetres high and adds a work of art associated with Lipno nad Vltavou to the story of the original settlement that was flooded.
