Travelers looking to combine nature and local history will find several specific points of interest in Nuzice: the rocky landscape of Židova strouha, a preserved regular village layout, and archaeological evidence. Two color-marked trails are especially useful when planning a hike. They offer different points of reference: the blue trail leads from Nuzice to the final section of Židova strouha; on the yellow trail, access from a road and a stream crossing are important details.

Židova strouha: Gorge and hiking trails

Near Nuzice, Židova strouha forms a gorge-like valley with rock walls. The nature monument extends into the cadastral area of Nuzice. The geological site can be reached via a walkable tourist trail and lies more than 250 meters from the road. Both the rock formations and the location away from the road are therefore useful points of reference when visiting.

The yellow-marked hiking trail follows Židova strouha and can be accessed from the Týn nad Vltavou–Tábor road before Březnice. There are minor obstacles along the way, especially towards the end, where the stream must be crossed. Trail conditions may depend on the weather, so it is best to check them before setting out. This allows you to take the described stream crossing into account when planning your own hike.

The blue-marked hiking trail provides access from Nuzice to the most beautiful final section of Židova strouha. Comparing the two trail descriptions therefore reveals different useful points of reference: Nuzice is the starting point for the blue trail, while access from the road and the stream crossing are the notable points on the yellow trail. This helps you tailor your hiking plans to your preferred approach and the specific features of each trail.

Village layout and archaeological traces

Nuzice has preserved its historic village layout, with a regular village green and larger farmsteads. This is despite intensive building phases in the mid-19th century and the second half of the 20th century. The regular layout and the farmstead structures are interrelated features of the village’s appearance. The building phases mentioned also show that the village’s preserved character endured through periods of intensive construction.

Hradiště Hradce offers another connection between landscape and history. The site lies on a prominent spur formed by the last meander of Židova strouha. Steep slopes, partly transitioning into rock walls, enclose it on most sides. At the entrance, a substantial, arc-shaped transverse rampart remains, crossing almost the entire access route. The slopes and the rampart illustrate two different forms of enclosure: one created by the terrain and the other by a surviving archaeological feature. Hradiště Hradce is currently a protected archaeological feature in the cadastral area of Nuzice.

Other historical evidence includes the Les Celiv burial mound site in Nuzice, designated as an NKP burial mound site. The road bridge over Židova strouha in Nuzice is also listed among the cultural-historical and technical monuments. The two entries represent different aspects of local history: Les Celiv is designated as a burial mound site, while the bridge is listed as a structure in the cultural-historical and technical monument inventory.
