With a 25-metre-tall small-leaved lime beside the chapel in front of the former school, the centre of Trebotovice offers a distinctive feature of the landscape. It also has a remarkable medieval village layout, the Dobrovodský potok and several described routes. The topics range from the history of the settlement to walks and hikes towards Dobrá Voda and Srubec. The routes differ in their course, markings and destinations.

Village History and Settlement Layout

Třebotovice was first documented in 1378. The settlement is a remarkable variation on a high-medieval planned village; its layout lies between the forms of valley villages and green villages. The year and the description of the layout provide different kinds of orientation: 1378 is the date of the first documentary mention, while the classification describes the settlement’s form. The written chronology of the place and its distinctive village layout are therefore two separate aspects.

Lime Tree, Landscape and Waterways

The Lípa v Třebotovicích is a 25-metre-tall small-leaved lime. It stands beside the chapel in front of the former school at the centre of the settlement and is considered a lasting feature of the landscape. Alongside this precisely located tree is a broader assessment of the landscape: the Třebotovice locality has high ecological stability and a high degree of preservation of the landscape character of a harmonious cultural landscape. This describes both an individual feature of the landscape and the character of the locality as a whole.

The Dobrovodský potok rises southeast of Třebotovice. Within the territory of the city of České Budějovice, it is the Vltava’s largest right-bank tributary after the Malše. The stream can therefore be described both by its source and by its place in the city’s wider water network. The Lusný pond is also part of this landscape: a section of the pond lies within the Třebotovice locality, on a right-bank tributary of the Dobrovodský potok.

Walks and Hiking Trails

Nearby, a red-marked walking trail runs from the Dobrá Voda–Točna bus stop to the České Švýcarsko water reservoir. There are eight information boards along the route about the stream and its immediate surroundings. The walk thus combines a specific starting point and destination with information about the landscape. If you would like to visit the boards, check locally to see whether they are available.

A hiking route from Třebotovice to Srubec, described in 2024, is 6.7 kilometres long. It crosses an open meadow and then enters the forest. For the section through Zborov, a local hiking association specifies unmarked paths leading to the Srubec, Na Štětkách terminus. Unlike the red-marked walking trail, this hiking route follows unmarked paths. Check current trail conditions before setting out.

A forest path runs from Třebotovice to Dobrá Voda alongside the stream. It is also advisable to check current conditions before setting out on this path. For planning, there are several options: a marked walking trail with information boards, the 6.7-kilometre route towards Srubec, and the forest path to Dobrá Voda alongside the stream.
