Újezd nad Lesy can be explored through a range of themes: forest educational trails lead through Blatov and Cyrilov, while a historical walk takes in the oldest parts of the area. The museum and traces of the medieval village of Hol offer further insight into local history; the protected forest landscape adds its own natural appeal. When planning, it is worth distinguishing the routes by their length, layout, and theme.

Forest educational trails of varying lengths

Lesní galerie I, also known as “Tam a zpátky za zvířátky,” is a 5 km educational trail through the forest area of Blatov. There are 30 animal-themed stations along the route. The route also includes fitness elements in a forest clearing near Blatov. The gallery thus combines animal themes and exercise features on a named route.

At 15 km, Lesní galerie II is three times as long as the first gallery. It runs through Cyrilov in the cadastral area of Újezd nad Lesy and is divided into three circular routes. The route includes 60 stations and five rest areas. The galleries differ in length and layout; the second also has circular routes and a greater number of stations.

Local history on foot and in the museum

The historical riddle walk “Vycházka s tajenkou historií Újezda nad Lesy” offers a different way to explore local history. It is 4 km long, follows easy terrain on urban streets, and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours. The route passes through the oldest parts of Újezd nad Lesy and features villas, the former bathing area, and the former dance hall. Its length and approximate duration make it easier to plan the timing of this walk than either of the two Lesní galerie routes.

The Újezdské Muzeum’s permanent exhibition presents life in three formerly independent municipalities from the end of the 19th century to the present day. There are also themed exhibitions. Hol is part of the area’s more distant past: the medieval village was established in the 14th century and disappeared during the Hussite Wars. Two wells and strips marking field boundaries have survived around the former village. The museum and archaeological traces thus shed light on different periods—from life in the municipalities to the remains of a medieval settlement.

Forest landscape and cycle path

The northern half of Újezd nad Lesy lies within Klánovice Čihadla Nature Park. The park contains the Klánovický les – Cyrilov nature reserve, covering an area of 397 ha; it also extends into the cadastral area of Újezd nad Lesy. A description published by the City of Prague on 19 February 2013 calls Klánovický les a popular recreational area for Prague residents and highlights its size, good accessibility, good paths, and flat terrain.

A route description dated 12 July 2005 describes a cycle path that reaches the beginning of Újezd nad Lesy along the Běchovický potok, turns onto Dubinská, and runs along the shore of a pond. Check the current route and signage before your bike ride.
