In Dáblice, you can shape your stay around different themes to explore: nature in Ďáblický háj and at Ládví, or architectural and cultural history. The trails, geological features and historic buildings give you concrete points of reference to decide what interests you most while you’re here.

Nature trails and geology

Ďáblický háj covers 68 hectares and lies within the cadastral areas of Ďáblice and Kobylisy. Two hiking trails and cycling routes run through the area. This offers both walks and bike rides as ways to spend time in the green surroundings. Its size and the different types of routes describe the natural area from two perspectives: as a place with a clearly defined extent and as a destination for a range of activities.

A former quarry in Ďáblický háj has outdoor fitness equipment, several children’s playgrounds and a picnic area with a fire pit. The facilities offer different ways to spend your time: exercise on the fitness equipment, play at the playgrounds or take a break at the picnic area. So the area can be explored not only through its trails but also through the leisure activities available in the former quarry.

Ládví is 359 metres high and the highest point in northern Prague. Its natural history also includes the Ládví geological natural monument: Buližník was once quarried in the area. The rock blocks were smoothed when the hill was surrounded by a sea. The elevation, natural monument and former use therefore tell different aspects of the landscape’s story—from its regional setting to the geological explanation for the rock blocks.

Architectural history and cultural sites

Ďáblice Chateau stands on the site of a former fortress. The two-winged, single-storey Baroque building was remodelled after the fire of 1755. The chateau chapel is dedicated to the Holy Trinity and Saint Wenceslas; its cloister vault features a fresco of Saint Wenceslas from the second half of the 18th century. The chateau and chapel offer different points of reference for architectural history: a former fortress and a later remodelled Baroque building, as well as a dated ceiling fresco.

The history of protected heritage can also be seen in two specific details. Staré Ďáblice has been a village conservation area since 1991. The Battista brickyard was declared an immovable cultural monument in 1996. These dates mark protected-area or heritage status and should be distinguished from the construction and event details relating to the chateau.

Another cultural site is the Ďáblice Observatory. It dates from 1956 and stands on a rocky outcrop of Ládví, 325 metres above sea level. It also continues to serve the general public today. Its location and elevation connect the observatory to the surrounding landscape, while its public function distinguishes it as a cultural site in its own right in Dáblice.

When looking for a holiday rental in Dáblice, you can use these differences as a guide: would you prefer to focus your stay on hiking and cycling routes and geology, or on architectural history, heritage sites and the observatory? These themes offer different perspectives without limiting you to just one way of exploring Dáblice.
