In Dolní Počernice, nature and local history can be explored as two distinct themes. The nature trail provides a set route through the landscape and village centre; the museum and church draw attention to everyday life and architectural history. If you are looking for a holiday rental, you could start by considering which of these themes you would like to shape your stay. The following places and travel options offer some concrete points to consider.

Ponds, wetlands and wildlife watching

Velký Počernický rybník is the largest pond within the boundaries of Prague. In the eastern part of Prague, it is an important natural biocentre, home to aquatic and wetland vegetation and significant nesting sites for waterbirds. The chateau park is part of the Počernický rybník natural monument. Together, the chateau park and Velký Počernický rybník form a natural monument covering a total area of about 41 ha.

The V Pískovna nature reserve is also notable for its high biodiversity, particularly its rarer aquatic and wetland plants. If you want to watch the waters of V Pískovna and the birds swimming there, the west or southwest shore is recommended.

The Dolní Počernice nature trail

The Dolní Počernice nature trail runs from the V Pískovna nature reserve through the village centre and chateau park, over the dam of Velký Počernický rybník, and then along the pond to the Vinice neighbourhood. Its route links the protected area, village centre and shoreline in a continuous sequence. This gives you a clear itinerary to follow when planning your visit if you want to explore the village as well as its landscape.

The museum and church architecture

The Regional Museum displays historic furniture and objects that illustrate the household and daily life of people in the first half of the 20th century. The church in Dolní Počernice is the oldest building in the village. The oldest stone church building in Dolní Počernice remains almost entirely intact; its remains account for two thirds of the floor plan of the current building. The museum and church thus offer different perspectives: one focuses on everyday life in a specific historical period, the other on the village’s older architectural history.

Paths in U Čeňku Park

U Čeňku Park has 7.7 km of paths in total, including 5.8 km of unpaved paths. The unpaved sections therefore make up the greater part of the stated path length. If the surface matters when choosing your route, these figures provide a useful guide.

Plan your journey

You can reach Dolní Počernice railway stop by train from Masarykovo nádraží or Prague Main Railway Station. Prague city bus routes 109, 110 and 163 serve the Dolní Počernice stop. As transport connections may change, check the current services before travelling. This lets you include your journey in your stay planning before deciding which aspects of your visit to focus on.
