Oucmanice combines a compact, circular layout with traces of village history and marked cycling and hiking routes. Preserved traditional farmhouses shape the settlement. The village square is home to a stone cross and the Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity; beyond the built-up area, the Orlice Nature Park and various routes extend into the surrounding landscape. You can tailor your stay to your interests: architectural and cultural history, environmental education, or getting active on one of the marked routes.

Village Square and History

The Chapel of the Most Holy Trinity is a Neo-Baroque building dating from 1868 and has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958. It stands on the village square at the end of a chestnut-lined avenue. Also on the square is an 1876 stone cross with reliefs of saints. Both structures give the village square a historical character, but they represent different forms: the chapel as a building, and the cross with its figurative reliefs. If you are interested in local history, you can take in these details together as you look around the square.

Another archaeological site is the hillfort at Hradníky. Its surviving features include ramparts and a ditch about 80 metres long. The site dates from the Late Bronze Age and was also used in the Early Middle Ages. This sequence of periods makes it interesting for travellers keen to explore different phases of historical use.

Nature and Environmental Education

The Orlice Nature Park, established in 1996, extends into the territory of Oucmanice. As a result, the surrounding landscape is part of the village’s character alongside its preserved buildings. The Ekocentrum PALETA in Oucmanice offers a practical way to explore nature-related topics: its programmes combine hands-on activities with natural materials and the study of ecosystems. The centre also runs summer camps for families with children. These activities offer a different focus from visiting the chapel or the stone cross: participation and environmental education take centre stage.

Cycling and Hiking Routes

Cycle Route 4049 connects Ústí nad Orlicí with Oucmanice. It is classified as moderately difficult, is paved, and is suitable for all types of bicycles. As surface conditions can change, it is advisable to check the route’s condition before setting out. The information about difficulty, surface, and bicycle types describes different aspects of the route and can help you plan a ride that suits you.

Two route descriptions are relevant for the connection to Brandýs nad Orlicí. The route from Oucmanice via Klopoty to Brandýs nad Orlicí is part of an educational trail created by Ekocentrum PALETA; check its condition locally. A description of the Choceň–Oucmanice–Brandýs hiking route published in 2021, by contrast, gives Choceň railway station as the starting point and continues via Oucmanice to Brandýs nad Orlicí. The main difference for planning purposes is therefore the starting point: the educational trail is described as a route from Oucmanice via Klopoty, while the hiking route begins at Choceň railway station. Conditions on this hiking route may also change.

Getting Oriented and Local Amenities

A sign in Oucmanice displays a map of the municipal area, with important points in the village marked on it. There is also a rest area for cyclists, built by the municipality at a junction of cycling routes. The sign and the rest area provide different kinds of reference points: one shows important local places, while the other is located where cycling routes meet. Check the condition of both facilities locally.

Events are also part of what the village has to offer. For Cyril and Methodius Day of Crafts on 5 July 2026, a programme featuring demonstrations of traditional crafts and activities for children was planned at the sports field in Oucmanice. This programme information refers to that specific edition.
