Hradec-Nová Ves combines firefighting history with outdoor activities: the Hasičské minimuzeum is dedicated to firefighting equipment and the history of the municipality. The Moravská stezka runs through the village, while a green-marked hiking trail passes through the northern part of Nová Ves. The multi-purpose sports field adds a range of ball games to the cultural and natural highlights. This gives you different ways to shape your stay.
Firefighting Museum and Local History
The Hasičské minimuzeum was established in 2008, with support from the Olomoucký kraj, in the former fire station at No. 48 in Hradec. The exhibits include a 1955 PRAGA RN fire engine and the motor-driven DS 16 and PS 8 pumps. Exhibition panels cover the development of firefighting technology, the history of the local fire brigade and the principles of firefighting. The exhibition also explores the traditions of Saint Florian, patron saint of firefighters, and the history of the municipality.
Access to the Hasičské minimuzeum is available by prior telephone appointment at 584 423 086. Arrange your visit in advance if the museum is one of your must-see destinations.
Other historical landmarks tell stories from different periods. The Chapel of Saint Anne was rebuilt in 1870 after the former chapel burned down in 1865. The Peace Memorial stands in Hradec-Nová Ves at a bus stop; its inscription reads “Památník míru 1945–1960”. Beneath the house where remains of a former fortification were found is a medieval cellar. Its date of origin cannot be determined. The fire and rebuilding of the chapel can be dated, while no precise date is given for the cellar’s origins.
Cycling Route, Hiking Trail and Landscape
The Moravská stezka runs through Hradec-Nová Ves. On the Jeseníky stage, the village lies between Mikulovice and Písečná; this sequence places the destination along the cycling route. A green-marked hiking trail also passes through the northern part of Nová Ves. This is a practical distinction when planning: the cycling route is located along a long-distance stage, while the hiking trail is described by its route through the village. Check the current trail markings before setting out.
Hradec-Nová Ves lies on the left bank of the Bělá, with forests stretching across the surrounding area. These landscape features provide additional reference points for finding your way around.
Multi-Purpose Sports Field for Ball Games
The multi-purpose sports field is intended for Nohejbal, volleyball, five-a-side football, tennis, badminton, basketball and soft tennis. It is open to the public free of charge every day from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., but is closed in winter. Facilities and markings may change. If you are planning a particular sport, check the current usage information before your visit and take special note of the winter closure.
