Raspenava offers a range of themes for a trip: traditional everyday culture in the museum, architectural history at the church and villa, and geological landforms. When choosing accommodation, you can consider which of these topics are of particular interest to you during your stay.

Cultural History and Architecture

The museum in the half-timbered house in Raspenava presents traditional rural life through crafts, farming and schooling. The house includes a preserved black kitchen with a working bread oven. Bread is baked in it during museum events. The three exhibition themes offer different perspectives on everyday life: work, agricultural activities and learning.

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a Neo-Baroque Art Nouveau building dating from 1906–1907. It was built on the site of an older sanctuary. This means that a building from the early 20th century and an older sacred site stand side by side here. The Jägerova Villa is also notable for its interiors: it has particularly valuable preserved Art Nouveau interiors, among the earliest of their kind in North Bohemia.

A smaller sacred monument is the Bauer-Jusel Cross, also called Kříž sedláka Pepka. It stands in the cadastral area of Raspenava on the Old Pilgrim Trail. This connects the pilgrimage site of Hejnice with Oldřichovské sedlo and is marked with blue tourist signs. Thus, a specific place of remembrance and a named route meet at the cross.

Geology and Landscape

Vápenný vrch is a nature reserve in the Jizerské hory Protected Landscape Area. It protects geological features exposed by centuries of quarrying carbonate rock and iron ores. The relationship between extraction and protection shapes the site: the exposed geological formations are now themselves the subject of nature conservation. A walkable tourist trail leads to Vápenný vrch; its two peaks are 418 and 423 metres high.

Chlum is a 495-metre-high phonolite hill on the northern edge of the cadastral area of Raspenava. The most significant prehistoric settlement in the Frýdlantsko was located on it. The hill is therefore defined by both its geological form and its archaeological significance. Those interested in the history of the landscape will find both aspects together at this named location.

Skála Zvon is a 550-metre-high rock in the Poledník Nature Reserve. Historical climbing records assign a difficulty grade of VIc to the Česká spára climb at Skála Zvon. This classification is part of the historical climbing information and adds a specific route-related detail to the description of the rock.

Swimming and Activities

The Smědá leisure and sports complex in Raspenava includes an outdoor swimming pool and a beach volleyball court. Another swimming option is Rybník Petr in the settlement of Peklo near Raspenava: it is a natural swimming spot, and its water is coloured by peat that has not been excavated. The differences are clear: an outdoor pool that is part of a sports complex on the one hand, and a natural body of water with its characteristic colour on the other.

All platforms at Raspenava railway station are step-free. LuĹľec pod Smrkem station, located in the Raspenava area, is recommended as the starting point for the walk to RybnĂk Petr. This gives you two different reference points for planning: access to the platforms at Raspenava station and the recommended starting point for the walk to the natural swimming spot.

The Raspenavské pochody take place every year on the first Saturday in May. If this event suits your travel interests, you can take the date into account when planning your trip.
