The grounds of the Church of St Bartholomew in Lanzov bring together a Romanesque portal, an ossuary and two masonry gates. The natural swimming pool and cycling routes offer a different focus for your stay.
Church and cemetery: historic details
The protected grounds of the Church of St Bartholomew include an ossuary, a perimeter wall and two masonry gates. The church retains a moulded portal from the original Romanesque church, built around 1230. The complex also includes the Chapel of St Apolena, with a five-sided apse, dating from 1804. Inside the church is a tin baptismal font from 1555. These dates mark different parts of the history: the portal belongs to the original church, while the chapel and baptismal font each have their own historical date.
A column-shaped wayside cross from 1684 stands immediately beside the church. The cemetery gate bears reliefs of Ć tefanik, RaĆĄĂn and Ć vehla; the cemetery chapel and entrance gate were granted heritage protection in 1992. The cemetery chapel was built by the Czeczinkar family of Birnice, owners of the estate and chateau in neighbouring BĂlĂ© PoliÄany. The plot with the cemetery chapel is privately owned. If you plan to visit, check in advance whether access is possible.
ÄervenĂœ DvĆŻr adds another historical note: it was built beside the former ÄervenĂ© PoliÄany fortress and is the only partially preserved manor farm in the municipality of Lanzov. The similar names refer to different historical sites: the Czeczinkar familyâs estate and chateau were in BĂlĂ© PoliÄany; ÄervenĂœ DvĆŻr was built beside the former ÄervenĂ© PoliÄany fortress.
Route, natural swimming pool and cycling
A 13 km route passes through Velichovky, Vilantice, ChotÄborky, Sedlec, MiĆejov, LanĆŸov and Dubenec. It leads from the spa resorts in Velichovky to the pillory in LanĆŸov. Before setting out, check the route and local markings.
The Lanzov natural swimming pool has a 50 m main pool divided into sections of different depths, as well as a smaller pool about 50 cm deep. As pool dimensions may change following renovations, check the current information before your visit.
From Kemp LanĆŸov, cyclists can access one of the cycling routes directly and ride either into the hilly PodzviÄinsko countryside or the flat PolabĂ region. The choice is therefore also between two types of landscape: hilly or flat. If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Lanzov, this distinction can help with your planning: decide whether historic details or outdoor activities should play a bigger part in your stay.
