Drisy can be explored through two distinct focal points: a short forest nature trail about forestry and tangible evidence of local cultural history. The Lesní naučná stezka Dřísy is 1.3 kilometres long and has ten stations with twelve features about forestry. The cultural sites include two chapels, a historic pilgrimage route, and the Svatováclavská vineyard and its connection to Saint Wenceslas. This lets you choose how much to focus on nature and cultural heritage, depending on what interests you most about the trip.

Forest Nature Trail and Rest Area

The trail starts at the edge of the forest, beyond the football pitch. Over 1.3 kilometres, it links ten stations with twelve features about forestry. The route is therefore short and clearly focused in theme. Anyone with a particular interest in forestry will find a compact themed trail here.

At Kozí plácek, the Lesní naučná stezka Dřísy has a rest area where visitors can take a break or enjoy refreshments. It adds a specific place to pause along the stations. This means you can plan the nature trail not only as an information route, but also include a break at the rest area.

Chapels and Historic Routes

The Chapel of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist is currently designated a national cultural monument. Architecturally, it is a central octagonal building with a mansard roof and a copper-clad octagonal lantern. Restoration work was completed in 2002, and the chapel was reconsecrated in the same year. Its design and documented restoration history offer different ways to explore the building.

The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk stands in the centre of the village; its masonry tower dates from 1837. A historic pilgrimage route links the niche chapel of Saint Ludmila with the Baroque Chapel of the Beheading of Saint John the Baptist. The similarly named chapels dedicated to Saint John can be distinguished by their details: the tower dating from 1837 belongs to the Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk, while the Chapel of the Beheading is part of the historic route.

Vineyard and Connection to Saint Wenceslas

The vineyard in the municipality still bears the name Svatováclavská, after Saint Wenceslas. The statue associated with Dřísy depicts the saint crushing grapes in a wooden basket with a wooden pestle. The statue is listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments. The name and the depiction both refer to Saint Wenceslas: one through the vineyard’s name, the other through the image of grape processing.

Getting There and Finding Accommodation

Bus services connect the area to Prague and Stará Boleslav, and there is also a train connection to Mělník. Timetables and operators may change, so check the departure times for your travel date before setting off.

When looking for a holiday apartment in Drisy, you can decide in advance what you want to focus on: the nature trail brings together the nature and forestry theme, while the history of the buildings and routes offers a way to explore the cultural side of the village.
