Příčina offers several distinct points of interest for a stay: the life of the writer Tomáš Antonín Pánek, who was born there; memorials and traces of history in the village; and views and nature. If you are interested in local history, you can interpret the memorials and architectural traces; if you prefer landscapes, there is a viewpoint, a distant panorama, and a named natural monument, each offering a different focus.
The Writer and Local History
Tomáš Antonín Pánek was born in Příčina on 22 February 1901 and wrote more than two dozen adventure novels for young readers. The hills above Příčina were a popular destination for outings during his childhood. For those interested in literature, the writer is connected not only with his birthplace but also with the hills where he went on childhood outings.
In the park opposite the municipal office stands the protected tree Jilm drsný I.; the memorial to the fallen of Příčina is also located there. The cross of Antonín Nachtikal, dating from the 18th century, also stands opposite the municipal office. At this same location, you can distinguish a natural monument, a memorial to the fallen, and a historically dated cross.
Today, surviving remains of Příčinská tvrz can be seen in a row of houses to the east, in the direction of the former school building, and on the north side of the former enclosure. These are two distinct points of reference in the village: a row of houses oriented toward the former school building and the north side of the former enclosure.
The historic colony comprised ten semi-detached houses built as workers’ accommodation for the “Ludvík” hard-coal mine. Some of these houses have survived to this day despite alterations. The original number and the present-day surviving buildings should be distinguished: the ten semi-detached houses describe the size of the colony, while some of its houses remain today. The connection with the mine also places these residential buildings within the village’s working history.
The historical themes are therefore varied: a personal literary biography, a memorial to the fallen, the remains of a fortress, and houses connected with mining.
Views and Landscape
At Vrch Divín, there is a viewpoint at the water tower on the road from Příčina to Žďáry. In clear weather, Příčská hora offers views of the Ore Mountains and the power stations of northern Bohemia. The distinction may help you choose: the viewpoint is located at the water tower, while the distant panorama from Příčská hora is explicitly dependent on clear weather.
Kamenné stádo lies west of Příčina, in the forest in the direction of Petrovice. As a named natural monument, it adds a different focus to the landscape attractions: here, the natural monument itself takes center stage. If you choose a landscape focus, there are three distinct options: a viewpoint, a distant panorama that depends on clear weather, and a natural monument.
