A 43-are pond lies in the middle of a shallow valley, around which Hlubyně extends in a semicircle. Together, the pond and settlement layout shape the village character and give it a clear spatial focal point. Hlubyně is in the Příbram District in the Central Bohemian Region, about two kilometres west of Březnice.

Village Character and History

The first references to Hlubyně date from the 14th century. Most of the built-up area—except for the newer northern settlement area along the road from Březnice—forms a valuable urban ensemble, with preserved farmsteads and a pond. For the most part, it has not undergone any subsequent adverse changes. The concept of an ensemble draws attention not just to individual buildings but to the relationship between the farmsteads and the pond.

At the centre of Hlubyně stand a wayside cross, a small bell tower and a memorial to those who fell in the First World War. Further wayside crosses can be found on the roads between Hlubyně and Bubovice and between Hlubyně and Březnice. The village character thus includes both central memorial features and wayside crosses along the roads between the villages.

Cycling and Hiking Routes

The “Jihočeská ochutnávka” cycling tour runs from Březnice along cycling route 8213 to Hlubyně. There, it turns left onto cycling route 8214 and continues through Bubovice and Hudčice to Drahenice. The route numbers and sequence of villages provide specific guidance along the tour. Check the current route markings before setting out.

The cultural heritage context also includes the village conservation zone in Račany and the village conservation reserve in Drahenice. These are two different types of protection in two named locations.

Hlubyně is served by marked cycling and hiking trails. One specific walk is about four kilometres long: it starts at the square in Březnice, passes through Hlubyně and ends at the Hlubyňská studánka spring.

The two descriptions differ in what they provide for planning: for the cycling tour, the route numbers and sequence of villages are relevant; for the walk, the approximate distance and destination are given. A route between several villages and a walk with a specific destination are therefore presented as distinct options.

Places to Eat

The Pohostinství Hlubyně restaurant is located on the village square. If you would like to stop there, check the current opening hours in advance and plan your visit accordingly.

Hlubyně can therefore be understood both through its settlement layout and historic village features and through the routes described here. One clear distinction can guide your choice: the village character offers a focus for cultural and historical interest, while the cycling route and walk describe specific route options.
