The Church of St. Ludmila and Plavecká Road give Kameny Privoz a cultural and historical focus; routes along the Sázava also feature in route descriptions. Baroque architecture, traces of historic roads and river scenery offer different perspectives on the town. When planning your trip, it is worth distinguishing between these themes and the different route paths.

Trails Along the Sázava

The Posázavská route runs along the Sázava between Pikovice and Kamenný Přívoz; there are beautiful views along the route. The one-way branch of the Jílovské zlaté doly nature trail descends into the Sázava valley and ends in Kamenný Přívoz. The distinction is specific: the Posázavská route describes a river corridor between two places, while the nature trail branch follows one direction into the valley and has a named endpoint.

The Jílovské zlaté doly nature trail was established in 1988 to complement the permanent exhibition at the Regional Museum in Jílové u Prahy. This gives the trail a clear historical connection to museum interpretation as well as its route. The views along the Posázavská route and the history of the nature trail’s creation offer two different starting points when weighing landscape and culture as travel themes.

St. Ludmila and Plavecká Road

The Church of St. Ludmila was built and consecrated in 1681. It is an early Baroque, rectangular building with a single nave. “Single-nave” describes a layout with one main nave; the rectangular shape describes the building’s form. The church can therefore be understood both by its date of construction and by its specific architecture.

The church complex includes a cemetery with a mortuary chapel, a Baroque gate, an enclosing wall and a staircase. These features broaden the view from the church building to the built surroundings of the complex.

Plavecká Road is also a protected immovable cultural monument; the scope of its protection has been revised. The road is associated with the municipality of Kamenný Přívoz and the district of Hostěradice, and is located in the cadastral area of Hostěradice. Its historical characterization reaches back to prehistoric and historical times. The two cultural landmarks therefore represent different time frames: the clearly dated church of 1681 and a road trace with a longer historical span.

Literature and Transport History

The writer Jan Morávek was born in Kamenný Přívoz and made the region’s distinctive landscape along the Sázava known through his work. His biography links his birthplace with a literary perspective on the landscape, adding a cultural dimension to the architectural and historical themes.

The railway stop with a freight loading facility in Kamenný Přívoz is part of the area’s transport history. It was on the four-kilometre branch line from Požár, now Prosečnice, to Jílové; the line opened on 22 September 1897.
