The Sázava flows through Vlastejovice, and the Posázavská cycle route No. 19 also passes through the village. To the northeast, Fiolník rises to a height of 526 metres. The river, cycle route and hill provide three concrete points of reference for a stay: you can explore the area by bike, fish by the river or learn about the village’s history.

Fiolník and cycle routes

Fiolník, also called Fialník, rises northeast of Vlastejovice. It is notable for its natural richness. The hill is also geologically remarkable: the magnetite deposit above the village contained more than 60 percent iron. This brings together a general description of the landscape and a specific mineral finding.

The Posázavská cycle route No. 19 passes through Vlastejovice and along the road section towards Pertoltice. Nearby, a 2-kilometre cycle route leads from the village towards Budčice, to a weir with seating and refreshments available. There is also a boat rental at the weir near Budčice. Local conditions may change; check the route and the availability of the services mentioned before setting out.

There is also a spring beside the road from Vlastejovice towards Pertoltice, where you can take a rest and refresh yourself. Confirm on site whether the water is safe to drink. This section therefore combines the cycle route with a specific place to take a break.

Fishing on the Sázava

Fishing is possible on the Sázava in Vlastejovice. The fishing area SÁZAVA 10, managed by MO ČRS Vlastějovice, has the area number 411 081. It extends from the weir at Březina near Vlastejovice to the mill weir in Chřenovice. The section is 8 kilometres long and covers 28 hectares. The two weirs mark the boundaries of this fishing area; the figures for length and area describe its size. Check the current rules before fishing.

From village to market town

The settlement was first mentioned in 1413 as a village belonging to the parish of Pertoltice; the name Wlastyegowicz also appears in this record. On 1 February 1540, Vlastejovice was granted market-town status. These dates mark different stages in the settlement’s history: its early mention as a village and its later elevation to market-town status.

The Dům s kaplí was built as a 16th-century fortress and converted into a Baroque chateau after 1689. A low building with the Baroque Chapel of St Mary Magdalene is all that remains of the chateau. The Dům s kaplí is a cultural monument in Vlastejovice.

There are historical traces on Fiolník, too: a Gothic mining church stood north of Vlastejovice and was abolished during the Josephine reforms. Together with the magnetite deposit, it is one of the different historical associations linked to the hill.
