Putičanje can be explored through several specific themes: archaeological sites from different periods, a paved cycling route through the village, and an agricultural business focused on olive growing. These offer different perspectives on the village and its landscape to help you plan your trip.

Archaeological Traces in Putičanje

Gradina Zibonoga is a prehistoric archaeological site in Putičanje. Putičanje, Resičine ograde, is also a medieval archaeological site in the village. These names therefore represent two distinct periods. Beyond these named sites, Putičanje is considered a regionally significant archaeological site in the Pirovac area.

Another historical reference is the Church of St. George in Pirovac–Putičanje. It is considered an important geographical and historical landmark. The archaeological sites in Putičanje and the Church of St. George in Pirovac–Putičanje represent different historical points of reference.

Cycling Through the Village

The A6 Pakoštane–Šibenik cycling route passes through Putičanje and by old stone houses. It is 44 kilometres long and fully paved. Its route, length and surface provide cyclists with practical details for planning their stages. At the same time, the route offers a different way to experience the village than viewing its archaeological sites.

An OPG in Putičanje is available as a refreshment stop on the A6 route by prior arrangement. If you plan to stop here, make the necessary arrangements in advance. Prior arrangement is a practical requirement for this stop, not an indication that refreshments are available spontaneously.

Olive Growing and Protected Natural Landscape

OPG Uroda is based in Putičanje and specialises in olive growing. The business offers online ordering with delivery or collection. If you plan to visit in person, check the arrangements in advance. Olive growing is a tangible connection to local agricultural production.

Putičanje is part of the regionally significant protected natural landscape known as the Kašić and Putičanje Natural Landscape.

In the Wider Destination of Općina Pirovac

The history of Pirovac is also part of the wider destination of Općina Pirovac. In Pirovac’s old town centre, the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel was built in 1506 and reconstructed in the Baroque style in the 18th century. The historic fortifications offer another perspective on the town: until the mid-19th century, Pirovac was an island surrounded by walls, accessed via a drawbridge through Vrata sela. Sections of the walls at Vrata sela date from the 16th century and were built in 1505 by Count Petar Draganić.

The landscape around Općina Pirovac also includes Pirovac Bay. It extends about ten kilometres inland among the rocks and features numerous natural beaches and coves. From the Makirina viewpoint, at approximately 113 metres above sea level, the view stretches across Pirovac and the bay. These regional places add their own historical and landscape features to the picture of Putičanje, without conflating them with the village’s archaeological sites and protected natural landscape.
