On the Gradina Peninsula in Rogoznica lies Zmajevo oko, a saltwater lake surrounded by sheer cliffs. They are 4 to 24 metres high; the lake’s maximum recorded depth is about 15 metres. The cliffs and lake give the landscape a distinctive shape. If you want to get to know coastal towns through their landscapes, this combination offers a tangible impression of the area.

Coast and trails in different forms

The coast of Rogoznica stretches for more than 50 kilometres. It includes bays and islets, pine forests, and pebble and rocky beaches. The coastal landscape therefore cannot be reduced to a single type of beach: bays, small islands, woodland and different kinds of shoreline all shape it together.

Walking routes also pass through different landscapes. In Rogoznica, you can follow trails through pine forests to viewpoints. Labirint Lavande is a town park with walking paths through lavender. Thus, wooded trails with viewpoints and a park with lavender paths offer different ideas for a walk.

The historic centre of Rogoznica, on the small island of Kopara, offers another perspective. An artificial causeway connects the island to the mainland; the centre is characterised by old stone houses and narrow streets. The island location, causeway and buildings are all part of the area’s history and set this part of town apart from the open coastal landscape.

Routes between Dvornice and Ražanj

The Putem Diomeda cycling route starts in Dvornice and later, after a turn-off towards Punta Planka, continues in the direction of Ražanj. The Brdo Movar hiking trail starts in Ražanj and leads to a French fort dating from 1860. When choosing between the two routes, their focus is particularly interesting: Putem Diomeda has a named turn-off towards Ražanj, while Brdo Movar has a historic destination.

If you would rather consider an outing on the water or to the islands, trips to the surrounding islands and islets are possible from Rogoznica. This adds another way to explore the area alongside the trails through pine forests and the routes towards Ražanj.

Cultural heritage, festivals and local cuisine

The pilgrimage to Gospi od Kapelice in Rogoznica was recognised as an intangible cultural asset of the Republic of Croatia in 2024. At the Ribarska fešta, music, traditional gastronomy and socialising by the sea give visitors an impression of local life. The two traditions show different aspects of local culture: religious cultural heritage on the one hand, and a community festival with music and gastronomy on the other.

Local cuisine can also be described in specific terms. In Rogoznica, you can buy fresh fish and enjoy culinary specialities, including rogoznički brudet. Regional dishes are therefore as much a part of the town’s character as the festival tradition and pilgrimage.

Marina and getting there

Marina Frapa offers berths, technical support for boats, charter services, event organisation, and leisure and wellness facilities. These services include both boating-related options and leisure and wellness facilities. The Lozica swimming marathon attracts active visitors and those interested in sports tourism, adding a sporting aspect to the range of activities.

Rogoznica is directly connected to the D8 state road, the Jadranska magistrala. It links the town with Šibenik and Split. The nearest motorway junction is Vrpolje; Split Airport is about 32 kilometres away. These details give you different reference points for getting there, without specifying a particular route or journey time.
