The 1,800-metre-long Perice Route connects Nečven with the banks of the Krka and the Bibić rapids. In Promina Municipality, such trail connections meet historic sites and local traditions. The landscape along the upper Krka corridor is also part of the area’s character: waterfalls, a lake and a rapid lie close together there.

Trails between the Krka and Promina

The Brljan–Manojlovac trail offers views of abandoned mills. Another route is called “Through the Promina Vineyards to the River Krka”: it starts in Oklaj, follows a country road to the east-north-east and is suitable for exploring on foot. Its surface consists of gravel and asphalt.

In the upper Krka corridor between Bukovica and Promina, five waterfalls, a lake and a rapid lie within four kilometres. The waterfalls named for visits there include Bilušića buk, Brljan and Manojlovac. Thus, trail-related attractions and a dense waterfall area come together here, without requiring both to be reduced to the same route.

Cultural trails and historic sites

The Križni put Prominom leads from the Church of the Holy Spirit in Matasi to the Church of Saint Roch in Čitluk. The route is 27 kilometres long and includes five churches and numerous chapels. Prayers and songs associated with the Prominci around 1800 form part of its historical background.

Another scenic route connects the Church of Saint Michael and leads to the medieval Nečven Fortress. Its features also include the Matovac well and Đona’s well. The natural watering places of Kuljača and Matovac are also part of the route. Churches, wells and the fortress give it a different character from the Križni put Prominom, whose course is marked by five churches and numerous chapels.

Promina is also shaped by intangible cultural heritage: Prominsko kolo is an important local tradition, and ojkavica is a recognised singing tradition. Traditional dress is also part of the local heritage. These forms of heritage sit alongside the churches and trails, but tell the story of the area’s culture in a different way.

Finds and regional cuisine

The earliest human remains identified so far in Promina date to the Neolithic period and were found in Mratovo. The largest concentration of Neolithic finds was discovered in Oklaj and Puljane. Finds near Lukar include early Croatian spurs, gold earrings and stećci. These sites and objects reveal different traces of the past.

Traditional specialities of Promina include prosciutto; Debit and Maraština are traditional wines associated with the area. Traditional dishes are often prepared using locally grown organic produce. Regional cuisine is therefore about more than individual products; it is also connected to local cultivation.

Debit, Maraština, Lasina and Merlot take centre stage at Promina Wine & Walk. The culinary profile also includes prosciutto, pancetta and cheese matured in a goatskin pouch. The wine selection may vary depending on the participating producers; the food on offer depends on the event.
