Sand, pebbles and concrete give Klimno’s beaches distinct characteristics. There is also a mountain biking trail that starts and finishes in the village, as well as sacred cultural sites. If you are considering Klimno as a destination, you can make your choice based on specific interests: beach type, cycling, maritime activities or culture.

Beaches with different features

Komoriška is a sandy beach at the entrance to Klimno, shaded by a pine forest. Meline is also sandy; one of its distinctive features is healing mud. Slamni, by contrast, is a pebble beach, while Riva offers another beach type as a concrete beach. The beaches therefore differ not only in their surface: Komoriška combines sand with shade, while Meline combines sand with healing mud.

There is a playground at both Meline and Slamni. As beach facilities may change seasonally, it is advisable to check the current situation before your visit. Meline can be reached by road, by sea and on foot. Access conditions may also change seasonally; if you depend on a particular type of access, check in advance.

Cycling from Klimno and back to Klimno

The mountain biking trail “Labirintima starih maslinarskih i pastirskih putova” starts in Klimno and returns there. Klimno is therefore both the starting point and the end point of the route. If cycling is one of your travel interests, you can make the trail a focus of your stay without having to plan for a different starting point.

Church and Chapel of St Clement

The Church of St Clement is a defining feature of the village. It is considered the only church in the Diocese of Krk dedicated to this saint. The altarpiece depicting saints is a protected cultural monument. Another specific landmark is the small Chapel of St Clement: it dates from 1381 and bears a Glagolitic inscription. The church and chapel offer distinct points of reference for Klimno’s sacred cultural heritage, in terms of both history and art.

Maritime character

Klimno offers an anchorage for boats. If you need a berth, check availability before your trip. The village also has workshops for building and repairing boats. These features are especially relevant to travellers with an interest in nautical activities and add a maritime perspective to the beach and cycling themes.

Culture in the wider destination of Općina Dobrinj

As a distinct regional cultural attraction, the Ethnographic Collection in Dobrinj can be visited during the summer months. At other times, you need to arrange an appointment in advance by phone with the Municipality of Dobrinj. As the seasonal visiting arrangements need to be confirmed, it is best to check the conditions for your planned visit in advance.

If you are looking for hotels in Klimno, first decide what matters most to you: the different beach types, the mountain biking route that starts and finishes in the village, maritime interests or sacred history.
