Prizba comprises several bays: Podjamje, Danca, Mala Prižba and Velika Prižba. It also includes the peninsulas of Ratak and Prišćapac. Prišćapac has a pebble beach; there are also pebble beaches on both sides of the Ratak peninsula. Near the beaches, you’ll find restaurants, a café-bar, a post office and small shops. Prišćapac also has additional tourist facilities. For opening hours and current availability, it’s best to ask locally.

Beach Days, Boat Trips and Diving

A boat rental in Prizba makes trips to the uninhabited islets of Vrhovnjak, Sritnjak, Crklica and Stupa possible. They are about 800 metres from the coast. There are spots there suitable for swimming and sunbathing. If you’re planning this trip, check locally on boat rental availability and operating conditions.

Another way to spend time by the water is to visit the diving centre on the Prišćapac peninsula, which organises diving trips and courses. Boat trips to the islets and a dive or course therefore offer different ways to spend your time. Details and availability at the diving centre may change; check with them in advance.

Hiking and Cycling in Općina Blato

There are also specific routes to guide you on foot. The six marked hiking trails in Općina Blato are called Lungo Mare, Belvedere, Tragom povijesti, Sudbinska luka, Korčula na dlanu and Put Blažene M. Petković. The Belvedere trail runs for 4.5 kilometres from Prizba via Sv. Marko to Prišćapac. This makes it possible to plan the hike as an activity in its own right between two named places, rather than treating it merely as a break from the beach.

Općina Blato has more than 140 kilometres of signposted cycling routes. Before setting out on a specific ride, it’s worth checking the signage and trail conditions. This way, you can distinguish between a single, described hiking trail and the municipality’s larger cycling network when planning, without treating the two as the same kind of tour.

Culture and Flavours in Općina Blato

The parish church of All Saints in Blato is already mentioned in documents from the 14th century. It preserves the relics of Saint Vincenca, which are carried in a procession through the town every year on 28 April. The church also houses an altarpiece depicting All Saints and the Madonna and Child by Girolamo da Santacroce.

The Barilo Ethno House in Blato displays an ethnographic collection of agricultural tools, traditional clothing, kitchen utensils, handicrafts, fishing equipment and household items made of stone. Tasting options include homemade liqueurs, rakija, arancini, roasted almonds and dried figs, prepared according to traditional recipes. As tasting arrangements may change, ask about the current options before visiting.

Korčula’s traditional Lumblija is made according to a recipe passed down through generations and has the status of a protected geographical indication in the European Union. In Općina Blato, a blessing and tasting of traditionally prepared Lumblija takes place every year on All Saints’ Day in Plokata, the main square in Blato; the “Days of Lumblija” event is also organised. Check the event dates and programme before your trip.
