The blossom season in Tudianzi is a distinctly seasonal reason to travel. At the Badong Ethnic Culture Park in Xinling, reconstructed Three Gorges and Tujia buildings provide a cultural focal point. The wider region also offers gorge scenery, archaeological traces and the culture of boat trackers.

Pear Blossoms and Rural Tudianzi

Tudianzi Village in Xinling is home to a 500-mu pear orchard. During the blossom season, visitors come to admire the blossoms and enjoy spring outings. A visit is therefore tied to the blossom season. From 2022 to 2025, Xinling Town held a pear blossom festival in Tudianzi Village every year.

A rural tourism offering has also been developed for Tudianzi, with sightseeing, fruit picking and leisure activities. If you want to plan a specific activity, check in advance whether it will be offered on your travel dates. This lets you distinguish a seasonal blossom trip from other possible interests in the village without assuming there is already a fixed programme.

Reconstructed Buildings and Mountain Scenery

Eleven traditional Three Gorges and Tujia buildings have been reconstructed at the Badong Ethnic Culture Park in Xinling. The total building area is 4,124.775 square metres. The buildings bring together two named cultural influences and give the visit an architectural focus; the area also conveys the scale of the complex.

The Wuyuan-Dong Scenic Area is located in the Bashan mountain region, also known as Jinzishan, in Xinling Town. It is rated as a national 4A tourist attraction. Xinling thus offers both reconstructed architecture and a separately designated mountain area as distinct themes. If you are narrowing down your interests, you can distinguish between these two focal points rather than treating them as the same kind of excursion.

Gorge Scenery and Cultural Heritage in the Wider Region

The Shennong Stream is a national 5A tourist attraction, more than 60 kilometres long and divided into four natural gorge sections. Groups of ancient Ba hanging and cliff tombs are found along it, and traces of an old plank road are still visible. Traditional boat tracking is also part of the river’s cultural heritage. The boat trackers’ songs are included in China’s intangible cultural heritage list. Together, these features connect scenery, archaeological traces and cultural traditions across the wider region.

A historical form of theatre is also part of this context: in 2016, the micro-performance “巴山恋” was created in the Shennong Stream Scenic Area, bringing together Tujia culture and the culture of boat trackers. The year of its creation describes the performance as a cultural work of that time; it does not indicate current performance dates.

Local culinary specialities in the Badong area include Badong lamb noodles, beef from Chadianzi, spiced dried tofu from Badong and Badong sweet-scented corn liquor. These specialities broaden the region’s appeal to include dishes and products alongside scenery and cultural heritage.

Choose a Focus for Your Accommodation Search

When looking for a holiday rental in Badong, it helps to decide on the reason for your trip first: seasonal blossom viewing in Tudianzi, reconstructed architecture in Xinling, or scenery and cultural heritage in the wider region. If the blossoms or festival are the deciding factor, time your trip to coincide with the blossom season and check the event date before booking.
