In Zhumadian and its associated county, discoveries range from traditional vinegar making to Tianzhong culture, themed routes, and seasonal blooms. When choosing accommodation, you can start by deciding which of these interests you want to shape your stay.
Getting to Zhumadian
Seven expressways and three national highways pass through Zhumadian. It takes about 40 minutes by car to reach the city from Minggang Airport. If you arrive by air, use this approximate journey time as an initial guide for traveling into the city. The roads and the airport connection offer different points of reference when planning your arrival.
Vinegar Making and Tianzhong Culture
The Sanqiu Vinegar Expo Park is located in Shuitun, in the Yicheng District of the associated county. It is a national AAA-rated tourist attraction and a national demonstration center for industrial tourism. Traditional vinegar making takes center stage: visitors can observe the successive steps of steaming, fermenting, smoking, draining, and aging, and sample various vinegar products. This combines a look at the production process with a tasting. The park offers a specific focus for travelers interested in food craftsmanship and the processing of a regional product.
The Zhumadian Museum is dedicated to Tianzhong culture. Its exhibitions present Zhumadian’s history from prehistoric times to the modern era. This broad chronological scope gives the museum a wide-ranging cultural and historical focus, centered on the city’s development across many eras.
Remembrance and Themed Routes
The Yang Jingyu Memorial Hall in Guchengxiang, in the Yicheng District of the associated county, offers a different perspective, focused on one person. It displays more than 400 photographs and over 120 exhibits about Yang Jingyu’s life and work. In contrast with the museum’s broad historical sweep, the focus here is on remembering one person and their life’s work. The two sites offer different emphases for a culture- and history-focused stay.
The Royal Station in the associated county was recognized as a national 4A-rated tourist attraction in 2024; the award was reported in December 2024. Its themes include “Royal,” “Post Station,” and “Ancient Town.” The Royal Station also offers several themed land and water routes. Its tourism concept brings together dining, accommodation, transport, sightseeing, shopping, and entertainment. The focus is therefore not only on a range of themed routes, but also on different tourist facilities and services.
Riverside Scenery and Leisure
Riverside Park is located on the eastern stretch of the Lianjiang River. Most recently, large areas of marigolds bloomed there, creating a golden-yellow landscape along the river. Visitors came to admire the flowers, take walks, and photograph the scenery from the flower walkway. Blooming is seasonal, so timing your visit for the flowering period is essential if you want to see the flowers.
In May 2026, Qiye City Camp included a camping and barbecue area, as well as a Monet Garden offering a distinctive setting for leisure and photography. As these facilities may change, check before visiting to see whether they are still available. Together with the seasonal flower displays, the camp offers a different focus for leisure and photography than Riverside Park.
Location information is also useful for planning: the museum, Riverside Park, and Qiye City Camp are in Zhumadian itself; the vinegar park, Yang Jingyu Memorial Hall, and Royal Station are in the associated county. Keep this distinction in mind when grouping visits or planning your days.
