The Yulong River is the longest tributary of the Li River within Yangshuo. It flows through Yangshuo and is known as the “Little Li River.” The name highlights a charming distinction: the Yulong is a river in its own right and also part of the Li River system. This gives Yangshuo a clear connection to the landscape that extends beyond individual attractions.

The Yulong River: A Landscape in Perspective

The Yulong River National Tourism and Leisure Area includes, among other places, the town of Yangshuo and extends across a total of four townships. The name used for tourism therefore refers to a larger area than the town center alone. In the wider Yulong River system in Yangshuo County, the stretch of water between Yulong Bridge and Gongnong Bridge is 18.8 kilometers long and has 28 weirs. These figures refer to the named stretch of river and give the landscape a concrete sense of scale.

River Trips and Peaceful Boating

Bamboo raft trips over weirs are offered on the Yulong River in Yangshuo County; peaceful boating is also available. The two options differ in the kind of experience they offer: weirs are explicitly part of the raft trip, while the other option is described as peaceful boating. The Town Center and Scenic Sites

Cultural Performances in Yangshuo County

“Guilin Eternal Love” combines a theme park with cultural performances and interactive entertainment. It depicts the history and ethnic customs of Guilin. The performances began in Jima Village in Yangshuo. The attraction’s name refers to Guilin, while this historical detail identifies Yangshuo as its original performance venue.

The China Li River Landscape Theatre is located in Yangshuo County, where the Li River and Tianjia River meet, and is the venue for “Impression · Liu San Jie.” The production uses the waters of the Li River, Shitong Mountain and twelve mountain peaks as its stage. The river and mountain scenery are therefore not just the subject, but part of the performance format described. This distinction is important for geographic orientation: the theater is in Yangshuo County, not in the town center.
