Donghu is both a destination for walks by the water and part of the view from Jinghai Tower. The city also offers hiking trails in the northern urban area, green spaces for picnics and exercise, and sites of cultural and historical interest.

By Donghu: Paths by the Water

Donghu Park, in the urban area of Ningde, offers natural scenery, paths by the water for walking and jogging, and places to sit by the lake. Walking and jogging paths meet opportunities to linger here, making it easy to plan both exercise and a break outdoors in the same park.

Parks for Exercise and Picnics

Jingtai Mountain Park is in the northern urban area of Ningde, stands 246 metres high, and has a mountain road as well as hiking trails. The comparison with Donghu Park comes down to the activities: here, the focus is on the mountain road and hiking; there, it is on walking and jogging paths by the water. You can choose how to spend your days based on whether you prefer paths by the water or mountain trails.

The large lawns at Nanji Park are suitable for family picnics; sports equipment adds to the options for relaxation and exercise. If the equipment is important for your visit, check its current condition in advance, as park facilities may change.

Cultural History in Ningde

Ruyi Pagoda stands at the summit of Tashan Park. It was rebuilt in 1997 on the site of a pagoda from the Southern Song dynasty and has forty stone Buddha figures. From the pagoda, the view stretches over Donghu. When considering the timeline, distinguish between the original structure and the reconstruction: the earlier pagoda stood on this site, while Ruyi Pagoda was newly built in 1997.

Cai Wei Exhibition Hall is located in the historic cultural quarter, is a provincial-level protected heritage site, and serves as an educational centre on the history of the revolution. Residents and tourists visit the exhibition on weekends and public holidays. It complements the pagoda’s architectural history with its own cultural and historical focus.

Views and Public Spaces

Jinghai Tower is a viewpoint in the urban area of Ningde. From there, you can see Donghu, the western hills, the urban area and Sandu Bay. As a viewpoint, it complements the parks focused on activity with views of the city, hills and bay.

In March 2026, the public space “Ning Time · Living Room” on the third floor of Jinghai Tower was used for resting, reading and conversation. Its design and operation may change; if you plan to visit the space specifically, check its current status beforehand.

Coastal Attractions in the Wider Region

In the wider region, Jitoubi, also known as Jinshetou Marina, is located in Jinshetou Village. In January 2026, the completed marina was in trial operation, offering access to coastal tourism and trips out to sea from Ningde’s central urban area. Its operational status and services may change; check the latest information before making plans. This makes it possible to distinguish a potential coastal focus from the parks and cultural sites in the urban area.
