Rivière-Du-Loup combines a waterfall with access to the St. Lawrence River and an interactive history exhibit. If you are choosing between nature and culture for a short stay, Parc des Chutes, Parc de la Pointe and the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent offer specific places to start. In the wider Rivière-Du-Loup destination, seasonal trail options and historic sites add to the choices.

Waterfall and River Access

Parc des Chutes is home to the 33-metre-high Rivière du Loup waterfall. Parc de la Pointe stretches for five kilometres and offers access to the St. Lawrence River. The two parks therefore offer distinct connections with nature: one is known for its waterfall, the other for access to the river. You can take these different features into account when choosing your excursions.

Culture and Experiences on the Water

At the Musée du Bas-Saint-Laurent, the interactive exhibit “Visages et paysages” introduces visitors to more than a century of history. Its interactive format offers a different focus from the landscape sites. For culture enthusiasts, the exhibit offers a distinct way to explore Rivière-Du-Loup, while the waterfall and river access put the focus on nature.

At Port de plaisance de Rivière-du-Loup, visitors can take a sailboat trip or an excursion to the islands in the St. Lawrence River. This offers two different ways to enjoy the water. If you are planning a trip for a specific day, it is best to check the current schedule in advance.

In the Wider Rivière-Du-Loup Destination

In the Saint-Ludger neighbourhood, six kilometres of trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing wind through a wooded area extending from Parc des Chutes. These trails offer a distinct focus for winter activities. Built in 1830, Manoir Fraser adds a historical perspective: it tells the story of the Fraser family and its influence on the development of Rivière-Du-Loup in the 19th century.

Sentiers de la Meute includes 16 kilometres of groomed and marked trails that can be used in summer and winter. The trails are open to all ability levels, from beginners to experts, and offer mountain biking and fat biking. Alongside cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, cycling activities are therefore among the trail options available in the wider destination.

Intervalle – Parcours d'art public is a walking or cycling tour featuring around 40 public artworks in the city of Rivière-Du-Loup. Those who would rather plan nature-watching activities can find rivers, lakes and marshes along the Parc linéaire interprovincial du Petit Témis, as well as opportunities to spot herons, beavers and deer. This trail route begins in Rivière-Du-Loup.

The Traverse Rivière-du-Loup–Saint-Siméon ferry service is also located at Parc de la Pointe. It carries more than 185,000 passengers each year. Check the current schedule when planning a specific crossing.
