A 1 km loop trail, a self-guided heritage tour and several municipal parks offer different ways to explore Berwick. Options range from local history and trail activities to sports and recreation facilities.

Trails and Local History

The Town of Berwick manages a 2.2 km section of the 110 km Harvest Moon Trailway, known as the Apple Capital Heritage Trail. The Trailway is used by walkers, joggers, cyclists, cross-country skiers, horseback riders, and ATV and snowmobile users. If you are planning a specific activity, check the latest trail information in advance.

The Apple Capital Heritage Trail trailhead is on Mill Street, opposite 120 Mill St, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church; parking and an information board are available there. The KMCC Connector Trail starts at the Kings Mutual Century Centre and forms a 1 km loop to the Harvest Moon Trail. Users can return to the Kings Mutual Century Centre via sidewalks. This offers a choice between a 1 km loop and a 2.2 km section of Trailway managed by Berwick.

The self-guided heritage tour focuses on Berwick’s history. You can pause at points of interest and explore the town at your own pace. It’s a way to discover local history, independently of which trail activities you include in your visit.

Parks and Recreation

Rainforth Park includes a softball field, a splash pad, the Carol’s Place multi-purpose recreation centre, tennis and pickleball courts, a basketball hoop, green space and a playground. A variety of sports and recreation areas come together in one place.

Chute Park is a year-round recreation facility with a loop trail, picnic areas and a maintenance station. The park also offers a mountain bike skills park and space for BMX riding. Its facilities combine trails and picnic spots with dedicated mountain bike and BMX amenities.

Centennial Park has a pavilion and picnic tables, as well as space for live music. If live music is important to your visit, check current event dates. Spicer Park has a community garden and a small playground.

Local History and Events

Berwick Gala Days are considered a long-standing tradition in Berwick and include horse and ox pulls.

The Apple Capital Interpretive Centre in Berwick is intended to collect and display historical materials about the Annapolis Valley apple industry and its founders. It is also meant to share information about residents of the Berwick District, as well as local and regional history. If you plan to visit the Centre, check in advance whether it is open to visitors.
