Community art, live music and beach access across a sandbar at low tide: Roberts Creek offers a range of ways to shape your visit. Whether you want to focus on a festival date, seasonal music or time by the water makes a difference to your plans.

Mandala and Creek Daze

The Roberts Creek Mandala is a community artwork at the foot of Roberts Creek Pier. It is painted with a different theme each year. Creek Daze, an annual community festival in August, traditionally on the second Sunday of the month, is also held at the Mandala. The festival features live music, food and craft stalls, and games. The Mandala is therefore both an artwork with a changing design each year and the setting for a recurring festival. If you want to visit specifically for Creek Daze, plan around its traditional August date and check the exact event day before you travel.

Slow Sundays in the Creek

Another event is Slow Sundays in the Creek. During the summer months, it brings additional live music, local food and craft stalls to the outdoor stage next to the Roberts Creek Community Library. Compared with Creek Daze, it differs in both timing and location: the festival is held at the Mandala and is traditionally associated with a Sunday in August; Slow Sundays takes place during the summer months at the stage next to the library. You can plan your visit around whichever event format best suits your interests.

Pier, beach and low tide

Roberts Creek Pier is a waterfront park with views of the Georgia Strait. At low tide, you can walk from the pier across the sandbar to the beach. The tide level matters for this crossing. From the Heart of the Creek, the beach is easy to reach on foot, by bike or by car. These offer two different ways to plan for the beach: for the route from the pier, low tide matters; to reach the beach from the Heart of the Creek, you can choose from the listed modes of transport. If you plan to cross the sandbar, check the tide level for your visit.

Trails on Largo Road

The B&K Trail System offers trails for different uses on Largo Road in Roberts Creek. Its focus differs from that of the events and the beach: here, the emphasis is on a trail system rather than a festival date or low tide. If you want to include trails in your choice of activities, you can consider the B&K Trail System as a separate part of your plans.

What determines your timing

Different considerations apply to timing: Creek Daze traditionally takes place on the second Sunday in August, Slow Sundays takes place during the summer months, and walking across the sandbar requires low tide. A festival date, a seasonal event period and the tide level are therefore different kinds of planning considerations. Check the exact event date or tide level according to what you choose to focus on.
