Surrey brings together nature trails, wildlife watching and living history. Options range from a roughly ten-minute loop at Tynehead Regional Park to year-round shore fishing at Green Timbers Lake and an experience of life around 1900 at Historic Stewart Farm. For planning, specific trail details, nature themes and seasonal offerings provide different points of reference.

Nature Trails at Tynehead Regional Park

The Salmon Habitat Loop Trail is 350 metres long and flat; the loop takes about ten minutes. The trail offers close-up views of the Serpentine River, and interpretive signs explain salmon habitat. This short loop combines a river view with a specific nature theme.

The Perimeter Trail at Tynehead Regional Park is open to pedestrians and cyclists. Cyclists must yield to pedestrians. Trail conditions can change, so check them before your visit.

Surrey’s parks include more than 100 kilometres of nature trails. That’s a different scale from the single 350-metre loop at Tynehead Regional Park: the trails offer everything from a short visit with a defined duration to an extensive network throughout Surrey’s parks.

Wildlife Watching and Fishing

Bald eagles, ducks, salamanders, woodpeckers and native Douglas squirrels are frequently spotted at Green Timbers Urban Forest Park. The park also has more than ten kilometres of nature trails. The trails and wildlife offer different ways to experience nature: you can choose the park for a walk and keep an eye out for the species commonly seen there. At more than ten kilometres, its trail network falls between the 350-metre loop and the more than 100 kilometres of trails in Surrey’s parks.

Shore fishing is available year-round at Green Timbers Lake.

Practical Amenities at Surrey Nature Centre

At Surrey Nature Centre, visitors can borrow an activity backpack or a fishing rod from reception.

Beach and Living History

Beach volleyball is available at Crescent Beach, and the dykes serve as a waterfront path. Visitors can choose between a sporting activity and a waterside walk.

Historic Stewart Farm offers a living history experience from around 1900. Its focus on local history complements Surrey’s nature and beach themes with a historically focused visit.

Throughout the summer, Historic Stewart Farm offers hands-on, family-friendly activities. The seasonal program may change; check the dates before your visit if these offerings are important to your plans.

The farmhouse is open Tuesday to Sunday, from 12:00 to 16:30. Check the opening hours before your visit.
