The Bulgarian municipality of Lesichovo lies between parts of Sredna Gora to the north and west and the northern foothills of the Upper Thracian Plain to the south. The Topolnitsa is its main watercourse. For a holiday home, the specific location within the municipality matters: the verified facts refer to different villages and should not all be attributed to the village of Lesichovo itself.

Nature, Trails and the Roman Bridge

Protected areas in the municipality help preserve landscapes and habitats and offer opportunities for tourism. An eco-trail to the almost completely preserved Roman Bridge starts from Kalugerovo in the direction of the large bend near Lesichovo. A sign at the beginning provides information about cultural and historical sites; further up, the animals and vegetation of Sredna Gora are explained, and tables and benches provide places to rest. These are specific details about the trail, not a guarantee of its current condition or of access across any private land. The bridge arch is described as being in good condition. A separate project for a tourist trail was agreed upon; the fact that it was planned does not establish that an additional trail has been completed.

Archaeology and Tradition

West of Borimechkovo, on a terrace beside a small stream, there is a Late Roman settlement covering approximately 4,400 square metres. Coin finds show that a fire there could have occurred no earlier than 347 AD. Other finds indicate settlement both before and after the fire. This is an archaeological finding, not a freely accessible theme park. Traces of a possible Thracian sanctuary are described near Pamidovo; “possible” is an important qualification here, too. A branch of the Via Traiana ran through Kalugerovo, followed later by a route along the Topolnitsa. According to tradition, the St. Nicholas Monastery developed there from an early Christian monastic community. This does not establish that the monastery can be visited today.

Living Traditions

The custom “Dervishovden in Lesichovo” was nominated in 2014 for a national selection of intangible cultural heritage. In villages in the municipality, Sirni Zagovezni is celebrated with Kukeri, Dzhumali and Dervishes. A local folk singing group takes part in festivals. For a specific trip, the actual dates need to be confirmed. Tserovo is linked as a secondary catalogue location; this is a search aid, not evidence that the attractions mentioned are located there.

Choose accommodation based on the village and your main interest: the bridge trail, archaeological context or a confirmed festival. The facts do not specify available homes or travel times between all the locations.

The municipality’s two landscape areas also call for different planning: the hills of Sredna Gora are a different starting point from the plain in the south and southeast. The Topolnitsa connects parts of the region, but that does not make every riverside path freely accessible. Before a cycling trip or hike, confirm the specific route, protection rules and return journey.
