In Jaguariúna, railway history and Caipira culture come together with a variety of leisure activities. The Maria-Fumaça, historic sites, and exhibitions offer a different focus from the arts and crafts market or the activities at Naga and Hípica. When planning your trip, it’s worth deciding first what interests you most—and checking the details in advance for activities with specific dates or access restrictions.

Maria-Fumaça: Timetable and Historic Route

The municipal Maria-Fumaça timetable lists departures from Jaguariúna on Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays. The schedule may change, so check the latest information before your trip. The historic cultural ride runs along the section between Campinas and Jaguariúna on the former railway line of the Companhia Mogiana de Estradas de Ferro. Both the route and the history of the former railway line are part of the excursion. During the ride, visitors are shown at Jaguariúna station how the steam locomotive is prepared. This station program may vary, so it’s advisable to check in advance.

Stations and Cultural Heritage

Estação de Guedes was inaugurated in 1945 and restored in 2012. It is home to the Centro de Cultura Caipira de Jaguariúna. Its permanent exhibition explores the customs and traditions of Caipira culture, including its characteristic language and cuisine, music, and folklore. The focus is therefore not only on the railway, but also on the region’s cultural expressions.

Another way to explore the past is through the Casa da Memória de Jaguariúna, which invites visitors to learn about the history of Estrela da Mogiana. Estação Ferroviária de Jaguariúna is also part of the city’s historic heritage: Condephaat designated it a protected landmark, based on its historical and material significance. These subjects offer different starting points for a cultural stay—from railway history to local heritage.

FEART and Local Products

The Feira de Arte e Artesanato de Jaguariúna, or FEART for short, is a tourist attraction held every weekend in the parking lot of the Centro Cultural. Local artisans sell handicrafts, embroidery, paintings, mugs, sweets, liqueurs, and regional culinary specialties. The market brings together handmade goods and products from local cuisine. A visit offers a different focus from the historic sites and exhibitions.

Water Activities and Horse Riding

Naga offers two distinct visitor experiences. Naga Floats is a large inflatable water park with obstacles and challenges. The Cable Park offers wakeboarding lessons and training with instructors. The two activities have different focuses: an obstacle course on the water versus guided wakeboarding.

Hípica Jaguariúna focuses on traditional horse riding and offers riding lessons, pony rides, and stables for show-jumping horses. If you’d like to include this activity in your plans, confirm access directly with the facility in advance. This way, you can include the riding experience in your itinerary without treating it as the same kind of activity as the water attractions.

Plan Your Stay and Accommodation

Regular activities can help you choose your travel dates: FEART takes place every weekend, while the Maria-Fumaça timetable lists departures on weekends and public holidays and may change. Check access with Hípica if horse riding is part of your plans. Once you’ve decided which activity you’d like to do, you can search for accommodation in Jaguariúna for the right dates and choose hotels to suit your travel plans.
