Taquaritinga do Norte brings together the Serra da Taquara, coffee cultivation, historic buildings and scenic routes. The municipal seat is located on the Serra da Taquara at an elevation of 774 meters. This means different perspectives can shape your travel plans: the town center, coffee as part of the surrounding landscape, and viewpoints overlooking valleys. Which one interests you first can determine the focus of your stay.

Town Center and Historic Buildings

A municipal plan from 2006 classifies the central area as the historic original settlement. It lists the main church, the public market, private markets, a hotel and a historic group of houses. Matriz Santo Amaro is considered a 200-year-old church. The historic Palácio dos Escoteiros is located on Rua Agamenon Magalhães and formerly housed the courthouse, city council and education department. The historic group of houses known as Casario has also been preserved in the town center. The church, former public uses and houses offer different points of reference for exploring the town's history.

Praça Pe. Otto Sailer is in the city center and features landscaped grounds. A distinctive Coreto in the central part of the square makes a good photo opportunity. In this way, squares and buildings complement the historic structures with open urban spaces and specific photo subjects.

Coffee as a Landscape and Cultural Connection

The municipal seat is surrounded by forested areas where organic coffee is grown. Coffee thus connects the landscape around the town with the municipality's agricultural character. Visitors can pick coffee at the municipality's Sítios de Café. The harvest season is listed as September to November; visits must be arranged in advance.

The sixth edition of the Festival Café Cultural de Taquaritinga do Norte took place from August 4 to 9, 2025. The free program included technical workshops, discussion sessions and tastings. It was aimed at professionals, producers and coffee enthusiasts, combining specialist topics with coffee-related activities.

Viewpoints and Routes

Mirante do Cruzeiro is one of the viewpoints in or near the municipal seat, offering views of the surrounding valleys. Scenic routes and hiking trails are also considered part of the town's tourism potential. The focus at the Mirante is on valley views, while hiking trails center on walking through the landscape. The two offer different experiences without requiring a specific route or hiking time.

When the Rampa do PepĂŞ reopened in 2014, paragliding and hang-gliding flights took place there.

Choose Your Stay Based on Your Interests

This offers a clear comparison for planning your trip: the town center is about historic buildings and squares; coffee is about agriculture and a seasonal experience that must be arranged in advance; and the landscape is about valley views and hiking trails. These different focuses can help you choose your destination. If you are looking for a hotel, base your choice on the things you want to focus on during your stay and your travel dates.
